[Mining] prospecting tools stopped working?

was using a prospecting tool and gargoyle pickaxe to dig up a shadow ele and was digging for england when i realised all i was picking up was plain ore so went to a verite spot prospected it into valorite and only verite was coming out.

I had that happen before, I logged off rebooted the computer and it worked fine.
