Hi all!

I created printable maps of the following landmasses for you to download:

Printable map of Britannia (PDF, 2 pages)
Big printable map of Britannia (PDF, 4 pages)
Printable map of the Lost Lands (PDF)
Printable map of Ilshenar (PDF)
Printable map of Malas (PDF)
Printable map of Tokuno (PDF)

These maps are very detailed, newly designed and specifically made for printing. You can download those maps here:

Here's a small thumbnail example of the Tokuno map:

Have fun!

(P.S.: I sent this as news to UO Stratics a week ago, but for some reason they won't post it on the main page. That's why I'm posting it here.)

Damn...those are awesome man. Even though I don't play anymore, I may still print out the 4 page one. It just looks cool as hell.

Nice, excellent detail. One feature that would be cool is to have marked what spawns in what areas (but thats a lot of info in a small space.

You sir have just earned yourself a second link in the UO Toolbar (Tools|Mapping menu) and a news item.

Okay, whoever here at UO Stratics wants to do it... now would be a good time to show Hawkeye some UO community love with a news item and a link in the Tools and Downloads section of uo.stratics.com. *hint-hint-hint*

Needs Britannian Runic versions. And possibly versions with the additional location/region markers of the official maps.

Very well done, however.

I seem to be too dumb to open the file. I downloaded it to my desktop but when I double click it nothing happens.

Do you have adobe acrobat reader on your comp?

Adobe acrobat reader download

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, I'm having a problem with Acrobat and now I have to get our I.S. guys to come to my lab and figure out the problem. I can't uninstall the old Acrobat and the new upload isn't working either.

Thanks for the input.

Comment: The maps are PDF files. This means, you need the Acrobat Reader (which you can download for free) or another software for reading PDF files to open and print the maps. I personally don't like the Acrobat Reader, as it is a damn ressource hungry moloch of a software. 99% of it's functionality you won't need if you just read and print PDF files. I recommend the FREE Foxit reader, a very slim and efficient piece of software, which you can download here:

http://www.foxitsoftware.com/

Quote:
"Incredibly small: The download size of Foxit Reader is only 2.1 M which is a fraction of Acrobat Reader 20 M size.
Breezing-fast: When you run Foxit Reader, it launches instantly without any delay. You are not forced to view an annoying splash window displaying company logo, author names, etc."

I'm glad someone beat me to saying that. When I saw someone recommend acrobat I was going to login just to say all that. The foxit reader takes up a fraction of the space acrobat does, packs more features and it's lightning fast.

Uninstall acrobat now.

Man, the new maps are awesome! I am not easily impressed, but these blow me away.

Jeremy? I do NOT want a cloth map ... this bloke has got what I need. Please strike my name from that list!

Also, gonna get the reader as I've used Adobe and hate the logo stuff. Still gotta use the full Adobe (full Acrobat for making PDF) for working at home but for reading I can change. Or does this proggie do that too? Hmmmm.

There an addon for it I do believe. Look in their Downloads page.

(I use it too for reading, haven't tried the creating addons though. I hate how Adobe adds to startup and then once the program loads, it keeps running even when you close it, you have to End Task on it to close it completely. As well as it's demanding update service even though I tell it I do not want to use the updater, it tries to update every time I load it anyway! grr Rubbish really, I do not miss it one minuscule bit.)

Woohoo! The Foxit stuff DOES have a PDF creator. I pulled down both creator and reader ... gonne test them out tonight at home. If it works like I want, they get my cash for a license ($35 for a year support). Lot's less than Adobe.

For creating a PDF file from any kind of program, you can also use the free open source PDFCreator, which you can download here:

http://www.pdfcreator.de.vu/

I created the map PDFs using Open Office Writer (Open Office has implemented a PDF export functionality).

Btw, I noticed two little mistakes (I already have received some messages, thank you for those!):

- On the Ilshenar map "Harpy Nest" is misspelled.
- On the Britannia map "Magincia" is misspelled.

I'm going to correct this and going to upload the new version soon. I'll keep you updated.

*bump*

As Stratics won't post a link on their news page, I'll bump this thread. Because the feedback of the community was positive and I believe those maps are very helpful to the players.

(Actually, Stratics offered to HOST the site, but the site is hosted already. By myself. Looks like they don't want to advertise any content from foreign sites, for whatever reason. I don't have any earnings from my website. Only costs. I'm doing it because I love the game.)

Hello Hawkeye

Awseome job on these maps. Quick question / request, do you happen to have them in a full JPG format? I am looking to have a small poster sized one printed up, and JPG would be the easiest way to do this for me. Thanks again for your efforts!!!
