I have heard the term prepatch white wyrm before, what exactly is a prepatch white wyrm? Thanks for any help.

Old pet from before they nerfed taming (and delivered pet bonding) I guess. I always thought they had something special, but it seems not.

The only difference i know for sure is that a "pre-patch" WW will not eat gold. Whereas all WW's tamed after the "patch" eat gold or meat to sate their hunger :)

In general i think that if a pet is "pre-patch" it is usually weaker than its current counterpart. For example, some "pre-patch" nightmares have 0 physical resist (its displayed on the gump as --). This might be something you’ll want to look for when identifying if the pet is "pre-patch". There may be exceptions to this (perhaps some pre-patch pets are stronger in one way or another), but I don't know of them specifically.

If you’re looking for a fighter, get a current incarnation of the pet because it will generally be less expensive and stronger (or just as strong) than a “pre-patch”. If you’re looking to spend tons of money on a rare pet, then "pre-patch" is right up that alley.

Perhaps Petra, Lynk, or another pro can turn my post into a flaming ball of lie, but this is my understanding of the “pre-patch” situation.

The reason Pre Pub 16 WW's are considered weaker than current or Post Pub 16 WW's is due to the fact that WW's Pre Pub 16 didn't have 2 of the skills current or Post Pub 16 WW's due. This is not to say the actual WW's are lesser, as the skills are simply at 0 and can be trained up rather quickly. However it is IMPOSSIBLE to have a Post Pub 16 WW display the 0 in the skills while still maintaining their 100 in other skills. If anyone is intrested in actually viewing the difference between the two. I have saved all my old Pre Pub 16's WW's and those of a old guildmate on Lake Superior and would be happy to show the difference. So if anything really is a Rare more than anything else, and I currently haven't seen another Pre Pub WW other than mine in 4-5 years.

I still have one but since I farmed it when it was possible to get barbed leather from their corpses after pet bonding mine has all skills close to zero...
