Power scrolls

Is it possible to insure power scrolls or will they become lootable when you die no matter what?

Just used a few scrolls and forgot to try to insure them first.

Thx

Any that say "Cursed" cannot be insured or blessed and will drop to your corpse upon death.

Have never really considered insuring them to tell you the truth. I get one, I send it to the bank (bag of sending) or use it immediately if the character needs it.

Was afraid of that. It also says that "You cannot send so-called 'cursed' items like power scrolls."

Using cursed scrolls is therefore a potentially expensive pleasure.

One more question; if I decide to "remove" the power scrolls it's possible to "die somewhere safe", ress and reclaim the scrolls and even resell them?

My initial plan was to tame a GD while using the scroll, but I see the inherent risk here as I would expect to die a few times in the process.

- With 110/110 taming and lore there is a roughly 10% chance of successfully taming a GD. That means I need to team up with someone that can pick up the bones when I turn into charcoal!-)

You need to "eat" the scrolls ... thus destroying the scroll and upping the skill for which it was labeled. Eating = double-click the scroll, watch litle sparky things surround your character, go forth and start raising skill/stat over the current cap.

A +10 Taming would increase your cap in Taming to 110 (Elder skill level), but the scroll is used. Dying on that character still has them at 110 Taming. Simply having them on you does not increase the skill (or stat) level.

Yes I'm aware of this; with jewels I'm currently at 105 taming and 110 lore.
Real taming is 79. By raising taming up to 84 I will have modified skills at 110-110. The danger is being eaten by a dragon while attempting to tame it and then getting looted.

So I have a chance of taming a GD long before I can train taming to 110, but the risk is that I may loose the power scroll if I die.

Therefore I'm considering to "die" in a safe spot, ress and pick up the scroll if possible and not use it until I'm ready to face the challenge. (Dying because of a lost connection or another mishap while training would be kinda silly if you risk loosing the scrolls which are kinda difficult to obtain).

Since when is this possible? Last time I checked you couldn't use a BoS on anything that was Blessed/Cursed...

I'm not understanding what you're referring to....

Power Scrolls only raise your SKILL'S CAP to that number, PERMANENTLY ON USE.

It doesn't automatically (temporarily or otherwise) raise your skill, though it will allow you to use jewelry to get up to the skill's new cap.

Without using it, it does NOT raise your skill cap.

"Cursed" means that if it's NOT USED, it can be stolen.

IF YOU USE IT, IT'S A PERMANENT CHANGE TO YOUR CHARACTER. You can't lose a scroll you've already used, from death or any other reason.

Think of it like a baby...

When a woman is pregnant, there are numerous things that can prevent the baby from being born, deliberate or accidental. (think of this as the PS in your pack). It can't do anything, and is just being carried.

Once a baby is born, though, it can't be "un-born". (A power scroll used). Even death will not make it to where it "never happened".

Ok thx, that was my misunderstanding!
Thought the power scroll effect wasn't permanent.

Just the curious use of the term "cursed": things are almost to convenient in UO these days; were more at stakes back in the old days :)

Basara you're awesome, but his analogy is pretty creepy-weird!

Gave me a chuckle :p

yup - you're right ... spoke off the top of my head. tried it last night (finally got a good chance at ingame time) and indeed ... cursed items cannot be BOS'd. didn't try blessed but I am assuming also cannot as you stated.

thanks for the correction.
