Potential Fresh Meat

Hi. I have been considering trying UO for a long time and I think it's finally time for that. I'm coming from such games like Anarchy Online (my very first MMO, I played it almost 3 years) and EVE Online (have been in game for a year and half now). I have tried several level based "theme park" games as well but they never appeal to me for long. Maybe because I want to rather Live in a World when playing a MMO than just slaughter NPCs and monsters on my left and right to get "phat loot". If I want to just kill some stuff I can always play some hack 'n slash game on my PS3.

Coming from a PvP centric game like EVE Online I think I would like to start straight away on Siege Perilous. This is the only shard nowadays with FFA PvP ruleset if I'm correct? Which leads a second question... Where Siege's server is physically located, I would like to avoid too high pings when playing on PvP shard (I'm from Finland).

I have researched the game a bit (I don't know anyone who is playing UO so I will be alone when starting) and I think I want to play a Thief. I used to steal and pirate in EVE too.
Can you make a reasonable income as a Thief in this game, especially as a new player and on this shard? If there are any guilds who would have patience to guide a new guy a little and show him the ropes that would be wonderful. I like to play MMOs with other people anyways, soloing is for single player games.

Simply Log onto Siege Perlious (you have to renounce young status on any other shard), hit the chat button on the top of the screen bar, choose general chat and hit enter. When you want to talk over chat you will want to hit the (,) key each time. Just ask for help or locate someone from NEW guild and your set. Anyone here loves to give advice on there personal favorite character templates so dont be afraid to ask.

Like Guardian said, seek out the NEW guild. They will help you out the first month to get you equipped, trained and familiar with the shard.

Ah, Siege seems to be in North America. I'm worried about my ping now because I'm from Finland. Siege really the only shard with FFA PvP?
