I am just wondering if people are still interested in player ran events.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please reply to this post.

Thanks

Running events is certainly tough these days because:

a) The lower population of Siege/UO means there are far fewer people available, and only a minority of those would actually attend such events or would even be aware that they are occuring.

b) It is always difficult to arrange event times that suit most of the players who would be interested, particularly given the broad spectrum of time zones inhabited by Siege players.

c) Events that take place outside a guardzone/private house, particularly things like monster hunts that would probably appeal to more of the population, would likely by interfered with.

I think most people like player ran events, I just think that where we do have a low population and so many people from different time zones it is a bit difficult for everyone to come, 3pm Eastern is probably one of the better used time because, people that are from Europe can attend, (there is would be 9pm) As for the others like people in the united states, The time differences are a bit off, but most can still attend.

What kind of player events do people on Siege like? What kind of player events do people on Siege NOT like? What makes an event a good event?

Unfortunately I had to miss 'werewolf' at the last minute, so I've been to only one event and that was a party, I think a holiday party with quite a number of people, and I remember being served by a waitress (Katt?) and everyone was socialising, but also there was death and destruction, and I want to say a harbringer showed up? My memories may elude me though; fun times!

I LOVE any kind of event. The problem for me is I see them on Stratics, say to myself "i'll try and make that" then I just totally forget about them. We need some kind of calendar that players can add the time/place/shard etc. so people can just check that to see what's going on.

UOForums have THIS one, maybe we should get something similar? Be cool if it had EM Events and all that kind of thing.

Hey York - I haven't attended any of your events yet, but I have seen your posts about them and it is always encouraging to see. Regardless of the attendance, it lets me know the game is not yet dead.

I hope your enthusiasm is not lost!

Count me in on any player ran event to help promote it with something in the weekly paper. Leave a message for me here, or drop a book about it in my mailbox at the Perilous Inquirer.
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday for the issue that comes out Friday.
Also, Kattasrophe is usually an active participant in player events and she is often game for reporting on it. Let Katt know.

I try to attend when I can. They are something different than the norm, and you get an opportunity to meet potential friends/customers/allies and enemies. ;)

Thanks for the replies and votes. It seems that there is still interest but it is pretty scattered times. I think it’s always been a given that no matter what time is chosen some just can’t make it. This is the same for me and weekends. It also appears the population is about as low as I thought with a great deal of replies come from different time zones.

This poll came from the Bunny hunt contest in which out of 12 times only 4 maybe 5 were attended and at least 3 no one was online… I was hoping that mini short events would be more successful, since I can spread resources out over the time zones without breaking the bank. This would allow for more players to take part. (Given, this may have not been the best event but; 100k for about 20 minutes isn’t too shabby.) It also was part of the reason I canceled the Thieves event because it would be too costly in time and gold for a maybe… someone will show… (btw I have everything needed to throw this; so maybe this summer)

I enjoy putting on events and I have always tried to have some event for anyone and one skill set event. This I hope attracts transfer players and shard veterans to recruit and to find good fits for guilds and factions. The way I see attracting new players is giving them an area and times to know there is an implied truce. I also think I’ve been clear that events are for everyone and normally in guard zoned areas; if not it will be announced. I will for the time being try to come up with more mini events and contest in hopes to include more time zones.

I hope this helps. But it seems the thing that what would help most would be a recruiting drive of some sort…. Players wanted….

Hey, I was blatantly discriminated against during the bunny hunt. I was all "Hey York, can I please come, I'm so lonely....", then you were totally "OMG, STFU you non-dexxer, you smell like animal pee and I hate you."

*Disclaimer: The above facts may not be true.

I actually shy away from most events. I will do my best to make every Governor meeting.

I enjoy them, but timing is an issue. Life has been full lately.
