Poll: Awakening Quest, Dev should rethink reward distribution

Please I take my thread posting seriously, and my last thread got pretty trashed with off topic and none sense posts.
Please stay on topic. Mod help would be appreciated.

I have a major issue with how tier 4 rewards are distributed. It create another scenario where players can works really hard and end up getting the middle finger again because they can not compete with the scripters that will just farm everything.

Honest players will probably bust their balls and not even come close. Here are some reasons:

1. Plants resources for quest (vanilla\sugar), scripters can tend to hundreds of plants in a fraction of time
2. Monster dropped ingredients for quest, scripters can farm unattended on multiple accounts out pacing any honest players.

The top tier rewards will sell for a lot of gold\real $ if you do not think scripters will go out in full force you are kidding yourself especially when it is obvious that GM's no longer enforce the rules. Scripters just gets an auto disconnect now a days.

I can spend every waking hours farming on one client from now until the end of the event quest and probably not even come close to scripting cheaters running multiple accounts and are out enjoying the summer weather....... HOW IS THAT FAIR?

Dev please use some common sense and some compassion for honest players and rethink this. I know you guys are trying to come up with new and exciting ways for events but this is definitely not one of them. Its like a dangling a carrot and the only way to get it is through dishonest means.

I do not mind putting in the effort for rewards, people that know me in game knows that I could sit there a farm honestly for hours just to get a reward.

I know I can't be the only one that is concerned about this.........

Unsure at this point really. There was a line that gave me a little concern however,

It is also possible to not receive anything if your contributions are not on par with the distribution of other contributors.

Not sure what kind of checks or balances they have already put into place for the situation. But that line does make me think if a bunch of the scripters get after it, then the casual player {or honest player even} may indeed lose out.

Yeah I saw those gloves and went *drool* then read how it figures your contribution versus everyone else and was like UGH, guess I'll go farm gold and buy them cause I definitely can't compete with the scripters.

Ahwell. I will get those gloves one way or another. I honestly like all the rewards, and had hoped while reading them there was a way to get them all. Sure enough, there is! Be one of the top contributors on your shard....ugh....damner man.

Another event with a potentially harsh punative side.

Why is a player who can spend all day grinding out hundreds of iterations of this quest any more valuable then someone who has real life take precedence? Don't they pay the same subscription?

Also, as mentioned above, why hand this event on a silver platter to scripters?

You need real players to sanity check your quests/events from now on. You obviously are incapable of doing it yourselves.

Make it not competitive and instead make it a really high number to achieve.

Each person has an equal shot to do a crazy grind if they so choose. At least give me a shot.

I take no pleasure in slamming the devs, but I am really at a complete loss over how this event is designed. After all of the complaints for months now about repetitive, grinding quests, then they come up with something where hard work will most likely not even be rewarded. Devs, why set your players up for frustration and failure? Seriously what's the point? I've had a horrible day at work so maybe tomorrow I'll feel better and feel differently about it. I just don't know.

2 plant resources (sugar and vanilla) - maybe the reason to release the new vanilla plant to kill 2 birds with one stone since people has been requesting it for awhile. (can be gotten from paragons?)

3 item drops from 3 different monsters I think.

When you really break it down, how can you compete when scripters can farm 5 items at a time 24/7.

What's more likely is that they won't even bother to participate. For me, this will make about the 4th or 5th "quest" activity added to the game in the last two years that I'm just going to turn my back on.

ya... have to agree with everyones sentiments here. if i casually work on this, for say an hour a day over the entire month, versus someone who grinds the quest 16 hours a day, i think i should be able to pull atleast one of the tier 4s, even if the 16 hour a day guy pulls 100 of them....

You would think some of us had more of a clue... but if this is the DEV's doing I wish they would quit it.

When will the madness stop? I guess when I close my last account. I do not want to be graded on the curve for my contribution points. Real life has kicked me in the behind again (not that they should cater to me) but i just can not keep up with the story arc anymore. I know my loyalty points must have zeroed out by now. What is the point of me even trying? I play UO for fun, enjoyment and now (when I can) to escape the difficulties of handling a stroke in the family. Because there is nothing like after a long day at the hospital to be able to come home and relax for just a half hour. To lose myself in my characters and leave all my troubles behind. Maybe if you turn this quest on the leave it on forever, I could one day get something but you will not do this. It is just pixels, it does not have to be so complex?

Oh, by the way, turn ToT back on too, just quadruple the amount I need to harvest to turn in. Let me shoot for something. Or bettter yet why not use the ToT system to introduce these new items? Thats what the system was designed for. A way to get new items into the system without having to add new system everytime. Rotate the items that the Envoy offers for rewards and rotate items that he request to be turned in.

I know how you play NBG and I know how hard you work at these grinds and how many times you have been screwed. I wish the dev team cared enough to come up with a solution.

They can calculate who did the quest above a rate they consider to be achievable by normal gameplay, flag their accounts, and then add them to a spreadsheet. When someone asks about scripters and what they are doing they can then tell us they have an updated spreadsheet!

This is how I feel, I don't get too much time to play, I can't even begin these quests as they take too much dull grinding.

This. Maybe everyones 15th anniv gifts are banning all those accounts, email adresses, credit/debit card #'s and IP's. If ya gonna dream, dream BIG!

I thought about that but to be honest I think you are giving them way too much credit. They have plenty of chances to ban scripters. There are confirmed reports where GM are not banning scripters when they catch them but instead GM just disconnect them from the game.

I really don't want to have this thread go into the debate of Mythic's policy with regard to scripters. That is a topic that have been beat to the death.

This thread is to discuss the Awakening Event Quest mechanic when it comes to reward distribution and how it is really uneven when you take into consideration of how quest items needed to complete the quest strongly favors the cheating group of players and the reward distribution completely favors the group of players that cheats.
