Ignoring Kelmo's "there is no spoon" reference..

If this idea offends you it shouldn't (I already said I don't mind if it is ignored in Trammel). Fellucca players already know the risks (or knew the risks if they are returning). New players don't start in Fel (unless on Siege.. but then again they know the rules with the 14 day wait now don't they?).

If you have a good reason not to allow this please post.. the previous responders have had nothing but arguments, even though I have agreed with them.

I think it should be noted that deadly poison isn't deadly at all. A character whose stats are fully raised will NOT die to deadly poison if they just sit there and take it. It will lower your HP to maybe around 10 at least. Which I find kind of funny considering the name, lol.

Lethal should be allowed to be injected into food. Since the poison will go straight into your system, and ignore any resists you have to it from armor. This is a RP game. Let us RP with full access to original, and relevant features.

Allow poisoning of food on every shard, and every ruleset. Ignore the effects on characters in trammel, unless they are part of guild war. Thus you are orange to eachother, poisoned food should work as designed. There are already checks involved in the tram ruleset, that allow for waring guilds to allow eachother to attack. So why not food.

As far as fel, there should be no holds barred. Its the heart of this game, its how it started. Allow Lord No Heart to get the care bears for once!

I'd like to see this working again, I hadn't figured out a way to get back at PKs since they stopped opening my trapped crates, this may be just what I need.
That reminds me of the times when I would purposefully carry around a lethal poison trapped box that didn't look like your typical trapped box but a separate container. It was for those snoopers ;)

Personally I'd be devastated to hear it's been changed. I've been (slowly but surely) working on a nasty little cook who likes to pull pranks on people by poisoning food, leaving it on the roads, then hides behind the bushes to wait for victims to come along. Just never got around to the prank part yet because poisoning has been such a hard thing to train... It may sound like an unimportant loss to some, but for me it's a lot of time wasted training poisoning and I'll bet that from a roleplaying perspective it'd have been a ton of fun.

I remember poisoned food...

It's rather lame if you ask me to poison someone with food in Tram... there is no way to "return" the favor... No way to get any "Justice".... Ooo.... a murder count! Totally lame since having murder counts is completely worthless... all that does is keep the offender in Fel... big whoop.

No I think if it is to work as intended though it "should" work against oranges... and anyone in Fel dumb enough to eat poisoned food.. and Yes Sweeney it "should" work on Siege and Mugen... I agree with that... but it should NOT work in Tram against newbs... or blues. Sorry.... totally lame to try to circumvent the rules in such a way as to kill innocents in Tram...

Having worked poisoning.... I'm wondering why you can't poison yourself though eatting food you've poisoned.... that's a bit odd since as I recall from working it you do sometimes poison yourself... though not after a certain level...

As long as we are on the subject... EV's should hit and hurt anyone who is in Fel, Fields should work on EVERYONE in Fel.... friend or foe... poison, fire fields, even para fields... should work against everyone.... earthquake.... should hit all valid targets... Stupid that it doesn't... thats my opinion.

LOL Been here for 12 years and have homes in Fel and Tram and I have never griefed any player, unlike you, who gets great joy in griefing newbs. You want to whine about SP then take it to SP. Wa Wa I can't grief newbs anymore. No wonder people do not come to SP when they met people like you. I thought SP was the "mature" vet shard and not the whiney vet shard.
I wish I could grief you... I'd grief you so much that you would quit life.

A Tinker can grief 10x no wait, 100x more effectively!

A tinker can make a GM traped explosion chest ANYWHERE and drop it ANYWHERE, then some newb comes over and opens it...BOOM! Insta death!

A poisoner cant even use there skill IN THE FELLUCA ruleset! (so ive read havent tried in...ever)

Seems a little one sided to me, especially as one person (tinker) isn't held accountable for the actions of others opening there traps. Surely a person creating a trap is creating it with full intention of creating harm to others???

Therefore it would stand to reason if someone DID come to harm by it, he should be accountable???

Same should apply to poisoning...besides...it never really hurt anyone.

Actually, whole thing usually goes the other way, with the non-Trammel players throwing the first stone.

But, on the topic, it probably wouldn't be that easy to code tram/fel/guild-war recognition into it. Yes, the code exists elsewhere, but I doubt it's anything but a chaotic mess of conditionals.
But, the Poisoned food in Trammel is about the only reason to intentionally remove it, since that'ss where the new players are, and they're the ones that won't know better (and are most likely to be put off the game).
So, on the condition that the poisoning of blues in Trammel can be stopped, then there is no reason for it not to be fixed/restored.

I don't really care either way.
I've never accidentally eaten a bit of poisoned food, and only made the mistake of opening a trapped box left by someone else once.

I once was one of those dumb noobies in the game back in the day on Chesapeake and I saw a tasty morsel and ate it ! I DIED ! I had no clue about the game yet at all, but I must say....in now 12 yrs. of playing it was probably the most entertaining death I had !

As the UO world went gray on me I reminded myself ...never take food from stranger or off the ground ! :) I have not eaten a thing I seen anywhere since esp. off the ground.

From a roleplay standpoint fel only ruleset........... I think it would be fun if it all worked again..if it no longer works that is.

Someone had bought my chef's gm chef'd gingerbread cookies and dp'd em on Siege apparently someone died from em, in that I even posted NOT to eat my chef's cookies unless they actually got em off my vendor UN poisoned.

Gingerbread cookies are darn cute and hard to resist :) would be fun if someone could kill someone with poisoning cute cookies ! :)

*it isnt me poisoning my gm chefed gingerbread cookies though*

UO is also about roleplaying what good is it to be a dp chef if they can not really USE it to...slyly poison the unsuspecting ? *in the fel ruleset* all the other deaths are same old same anyhow ! I would love to eat a cookie found on a bank floor again and DIE ! lol

*would help if they returned HUNGER to be more frequent so we could eat more, as well !*

It would also be comic fun, FEL ONLY RULESET...like Siege if a dp person could DP lollipops we get from trick or treating ! :) Some of us would maybe DIE from eating those lollipops found all over ...but would add to halloween fun if a player could dp all the trick or treat treats they got, and set em out for others to find !

No I do not have a pk nor pvp nor any of that ...I play crafters and roleplayers in all rulesets. I .........just enjoy being *entertained* dying in unusual ways, in this game, instead of same old same BS all the time ! :heart::thumbup:

Hey I once won, a costume contest in old Iantown Siege, cuz while everyone came uber lovely or cool, I dressed up like Imanewbie ! :)

Once upon a time us newbies class of 98 uo,escorted the *old worlders* class of 97 uo to tour the new lost lands. :) We took em to lovely places like Terathan Keep /Ophidian Lair ! What did they know ? The lost lands were OUR turf not theirs ! lol We were highly entertained to take the then 1 yr. vets that pkd us ...to DIE !


Anyhow after 12yrs. of UO dying one way or another...all the pking just ends up the same blur of bored dyings...I DO remember my nahdoh moment of dying cuz I ate poisoned food on the ground ! :)
That and committing suicide cuz I was learning spells and cast ...blade spirits IN TOWN in Delucia by the healer hut...exterminated my new pet ostard and myself cuz the guards WHACKED ME ! :)

The more interesting deaths or more entertaining ones I remember...even the more *creative pks that pkd me* the rest.................SAME OLD SAME boring dying as bland as bread ! :) Not remotely unique nor as entertaining deaths ! :)

It is a game...we supposed to be *entertained* !

There was even a skill called TASTE IDENTIFICATION, to find out if the potions you looted off Mr.EVIL were good or just a way to get you back.

This added a whole other dimention to the game. It's ridiculous that it's gone, but hey, maybe thats why I cancelled my subscription... such idiocies.

It's not a grief method if people would follow the basic rules of society laid out when you were a toddler.. don't eat food you find on the ground.
And besides, this is a Fel issue as much as it is a Siege issue. If you're going to troll, do it with some intellect and not just with the Trammel Care-Bear fallback position.

I think in fel, poisoning food should be allowed. i also think that poisoning should be expanded. perhaps with the use of alchemy skill as well.

Create a contact poison that you can poison weapons with and leave lying around (or in your backpack to be looted). How cool would that be, someone wacks you, loots the weapon that fell into your pack, and DIES!!!!

Poison bombs (reduced lethality maybe, but creates a poison cloud.

Perhaps an acid cloud bomb : acid effect that reduces durability on equipment.





Keep it out of trammel though and I don;t think there should be an issue.

I agree 100% Ahuaeyjnkxs. Taste ID had a purpose. Same with item identification. Do you remember when you looted items off monsters, and had to either use ID skill, or ID wands?

It should work, and it should allow taste ID to detect it, and hue it green after detection. There are RP situations this would come into play in. And this is a RP game.

Here is one I found by accident. My thunter had a bunch of chests in his bank box. It was overfull and I needed gold to stable a pet. I dropped a miasma chest on the ground. Somebody promptly picked up the chest and tried to open it. KABOOM!! It was hilarious.

Bring back poisoned food, if it is gone. I recall years ago when I started on GL, and ate something poisoned. I didn't feel griefed- it was hilarious, and I was surprised. Poisoned food should always be poisoned food.

I never liked the idea of poisoning food either... but a healing potion to watch a looter lose that half second you need to interrupt his whatever when something happens, now its not to clear to me whats what but in a sense, I do agree !

We have no freedom in this game...

I believe the reason that poisoned foods no longer poison may be that no one actually attacks you with it, you pick it up, eat it, it poisons. In trammal they can prevent attacking, area spells are already prevented cuz no one is flagged on you, stuff like that, but poisoning doesn't really flag, unless i'm mistaken and I might be, but you just get poisoned. Now the code might be so old that they couldn't figure out how to get a check of "If location = trammal ruleset Cannot be poisoned" Or maybe they didn't think about it and didn't really care either. I don't know what language they coded this game with but it could just be so ancient that the If statements could just be iffy. Just speculating.

but when it became EA, they totally ignored my bugs, especially when I proposed a way to remove all hacking in the game.

I think it's simply that the people who received the e-mails are friends with the people who are paid to correct bugs and they tought, NO WAY. Because it was so easy... no more duping, no more speedhack.

No more people making a living out of selling duped gold to people ! People think I'm calling conspiracy here... but it's really more down to earth. EA is purposefully not caring and hijacking the game so it becomes what they think a MMORPG should be.

The scripts I have edited in beta and release with OSI are still used in the game, there is many examples of this. By now if only ONE person was hired to write such scripts, we could have 2000 cooking recipes, food that poisons and flags correctly NOT TO HARM RP... etc etc...

Your imagination is the limit, these scripts are almost as easy to edit as the first chat engines like The Palace.

So what we see here is a big censorship machine making sure it harms roleplay and give the upperhand to the kids who PVP and think they're cool, albeit it's not cool anymore because there is no RISK in being an *******.

Anyways I'm digressing... I'm sure you people are intelligent enough to figure out why.

It's on purpose.

Wasn't taste ID used to determine the level of a potion. Like all healing potions were just yellow until taste id'ed and then it carried the potion level?

Give up. The personal accountability of old is gone. In UO it is now completely safe to take candy from strangers.
That's so sad to hear. My thief personally slayed an entire wedding party with poisons. They had such a wonderful feast setup for the festivities.
