Poison resist

Does poison % on armor help resist being poisoned or does it just reduce the amount of hit points taken away while poisoned?

Also, weapons that have poison damage, does it give a chance to poison somene?

Your poison resist cannot prevent being poisoned. It only determines the damage you take from the poison ticks.
A weapon with poison damage cannot poison anyone. It just deals a different damage type (i.e. it will do more damage against monsters or players with low poison resist).
