Please tell me what I'm doing wrong

I have recently returned to UO and decided to rebuild an old toon. I spent hours pouring through these boards and took the advice of Connor and a few others. I built a sampire with the hopes of soloing doom, peerless etc. I raised my skills in painted caves with no problems. To get practice for doom I decided to take on a few Lich Lords for practice. It was an utter disaster. The first battle near the honor shrine was with a LL, lich, and elder gazer. I honored the LL, cast confidence, evade, and concecrate weapon. I died in about 7 seconds. I rezzed and noticed a paragon LL. I decided to take him one on one in case the previous battle was a fluke. Same results. I died in about 10 seconds. If I can't survive this, doom is out of the question.

Here is my build and template:

120 Swords
120 Bushido
120 Parry
100 Necro
100 Tactics
100 resist
60 Chivalry

My suit consists of:

Mace and shield glasses
Rune beetle carapace
Jackals Collar
Fey Leggings
Crimson Cincture
Gaunlets of Nobility
Primer on Arms
Sleeves - with MR 1 and 71 total resists
ring/bracelet combo - HCI 29%, DCI 15%, some resists, FC1, FR1

total resist in vamp form 70/48/56/64/66

total HCI 29%, DCI 39%, DI 80%

Weapon ornate axe HML 41%, SSI 25%, and DI 40%

Please tell me what tactics I should be using to help me survive. I also have anatomy and SS stoned in case I need switch skills.
Thanks in advance.

Your fire resist is way too low, and you really need to try and find a weapon that has SL on it along with the other properties you currently have on the weapon you listed.

What are your stats? Maybe your swing speed is too low as well.

Thanks everyone for the input. I dropped the Gaunlets of nobility for some player made gloves. New resists in vamp form are 70/61/70/66/70. I will keep an eye out for some jewelry to bump fire a bit more.

My stats with items are:

Str - 111
Dex - 140
Int - 35

Hits - 121
Stamina - 140
Mana - 65

I will look for a better weapon (maybe try a Soul Seeker I have laying around).

How are you healing? Just with confidence? Or with pots too?

I never had faith in the bandaid-less sampire.

I sacraficed a little tactics and DI on jewels and went with skill inc/dci and the midnight bracers. Similar template to yours but 90 heal/anat and only 70 tact. Still crit dhorn for 180.

To the OP: For your build max out your resists to all 70s and cap your DCI, don't worry about HCI with this build (lightning strike automatically takes you to max hci). Get a 3 leech weapon that you can swing at the cap. That should solve your problem.

My warrior looks like this right now:

110 Parry
108.5 Bushido
105.5 Swords
103.8 Resist
94.2 Tactics
99 Necro
40ish in med set to go down.

str 100
dex 95
Int 58

My suit currently is 70/66/48/70/50 with MR 6 HR 2 LMC 25% LRC 55% HCI 20 DCI 41... Once I get the ML expansion I'll be able to raise that to all 70s LMC 40% and HCI 35 or so.

I have a couple of slayer weapons including a soul seeker.

I went to the fire temple and was able to tank two deamons fairly easily. Didn't need to heal once, just used vamp form/weapon LL + confidence for all healing. I also was able to slaughter a regular dragon with ease. Didn't try the greater because my skills are still too low to consistantly get hits in to stay healed up. Fighting things like Ogre Lords, faction invasion generals and other warrior type mobs this character just rips them up. Spell casters are easy enough as long as I don't get too many of them on me at once.

You should have more dex. That's why they call all fighters dexers now. Try to get as close to 150 as possible. I try to keep my stats in this range.

Str 100
Dex 125
Int 30

This assumes a +25 stat scroll. If you don't have it still try to keep your dex up and make up the difference in Int or Str.

If you don't have healing you don't need as much dex for most good swords.

For instance my character with 95 dex is at the swing cap using my good slayers (soul seeker, etc.) When I want to use a heavy axe I unload a couple of +int items and go with +dex items and I am back up to the swing cap.

Well for starters, paragon creatures hit point regen faster then their normal counterparts. And...you are talking about fighting lich lord paragons...which are no pushovers.

Connor basically said it. Your fire resist is WAY too low. Spellcasting mobs will have a hey day with resist being that low.

Your weapon leeching is not fast enough to counter the damage being received from the lich lord paragon.

As far as your setup, it is fine. You are fighting spellcasting mob so...you should have resist spells setup...not anatomy or spirit speak. Spirit speak all things depending I suppose.

Aside from your fire resist though...that all aside, your tactics are pretty important. Especially when paired up against multiple opponents.

Ornate axe I really like, but...you need to carry several weapons. Even if its just something that is one handed where you can whirlwind...in order to leech back mana and stamina (you will ideally want both on a weapon).

That way...you get in a tight spot, you can hit confidence and right after that follow that with momentum strike and then follow that with whirlwind.

Basically you want to use every move when it is needed. You aren't playing a stand there and watch them hit type of template, SO once you get an enemy where you want after honoring it, you can concentrate some on the perfection angle.

Just concentrate your hits with a heavy hitter (ornate, no daichi, etc. a good 2 hand weapon) you can start using lighting strike...if you haven't been using it in order to get some GOOD hits in. Which, in the case of fighting a lich lord paragon...you will want to do.

Thank you everyone for the good feedback. I am getting better at playing this character and having some fun. My resist in vamp form are now 70/68/70/66/62 and stats are 111/146/36. I managed to get all of the keys twice, but died to dreadhorn both times. I think that's because I still have below average weapons. Anyway thanks for the feedback and I hope to learn this well enough to solo DH soon.
