Ok, so recently for the first time, I killed this big ugly spider w my mystic disco / mage tamer combo. Which was cool, but the character I've been building SPECIFICALLY to solo peerless is a swordsman. Finally tried Nav tonight and she DESTROYED me. Here's what I took (real skill):

Bushido 120
Parry 120
Chivalry 111.7
Swords 103.2
Tactics 105.2
Healing 87.6

Armor was Virtue set (I haven't crafted armor yet) but I did take my shiney new Nav weapon I had JUST FREAKIN MADE with high hopes. It is:

Double Axe
HLL 81%
HML 81%
DI 50%
Spider Slayer
HCI 15%

After random jewels, tally (primer on arms), shroud, my stats were:

HP 115
Dex 112
Int 47

HCI 30%
LMC 13%
SSI 10%
WDI 70%
all 70s resist

I know that last list is weak b/c I haven't finished suit, but I really thought I was far enough along I could last at least a few minutes.

NOPE!

Once I got honor up, EoO, and Evasion up I stood toe to toe for maybe 30 seconds. Then she ate my lunch.

Please offer any advice you have. After crafting the axe and spending probably a mil to get the ingredients I was missing (which is a SIGNIFICANT portion of my available gold) I'm a bit crestfallen. If I have to have all 120s to do this so be it, but just yuck. What an ass whooping she gave me.

I also should mention I have 100 Necro on a stone but thought healing would be better when paralyzed by web. Now I'm thinking that was a mistake.

It would be good if you mention what exactly was the problem. Did she have too much DPS? Did you have too little DPS to life leech properly (necro would really help here)? Did the parry/evasion help too little? Did the web state impair your work through her (stone shoes would help)?

In my opinion healing has little use without anatomy since the bandage use timer is quite big. Necro should allow for quite a good life leech instead, if your dps is not a problem.

I hate to hurt your feelings, but the biggest thing you can do is go from 103 to 120 swords.

Assuming a normal Navrey having 95 wrestle. With 103 swords and 30 HCI, you'll hit ~68% of the time.

For every 2 more swordsmanship you add, you'll hit ~1% more often. For every 2 HCI you have, you'll hit ~1% more often. For every 2 recuction in DCI your opponent suggeffers, you get roughly 1% more hit probability.

So lets say you moved to 110 swords, 45 HCI, now you're going to hit roughly 80% of the time.

At ~115 swords, 45 hci, and if you used a HLD weapon (-25 defence chance to the target) you're maxxed out in your hit probability at 95%.

It works the same way in reverse for you getting hit. If you have more swords and more DCI you'll get hit much less often.

Also... you have basically no LMC - which means you're not double striking on every swing. Seems like you only have 70% weapon damage frm items... for a double axe you're giving up quite a lot of damage.

With 112 dex and 10% SSI, you're swinging a double axe only once every 2.25 seconds... you'd want to be at 1.25.

Maybe not standing toe to toe is your best move. Have you tried jousting her?

DO you use the stones? Even the best, most deadly of us use those twice per fight (which does 60%+ of the damage to her).

You basically got everything wrong that one can do. If you want to use that double axe, you need 35 ssi and 150 stam or 20 ssi and 180 stam. Axe is also missing stam leech. Also high weapon skill is your first line of defence against hard melee hitters like navrey, i would suggest 115 at least.
For your healing to work well, you would like at least 61 anatomy to be able to cure poison. If you run a 2 handed weapon, consider 120 healing skill beacuse it gives 100% chance to cure navreys poison, sometimes even after half bandage time.
With your current armor, best you can do is to switch to a katana, do hit and run tactics to get a few hits in and use the pillars to do the main damage. Bring some greater cure, str, dex, heal, refresh potions and a trapbox.
Just in case that is on siege, i would suggest either ninja or a stone form dexxer if you want to go toe to toe against her.But ranged char is simply safer. She does like to loot your armor.

Thanks everyone. The stam and hci shouldbe covered by the suit, I can't remember what ssi is planned to be but I think it'll get there. Originally healing was meant to be 120 but I moved it to another toon and started rebuilding from 30 on this one, so just took a while.. I'll try Necro next time. and yes, she does loot hardcore. She's still holding 600 enhanced bandages of mine, which you can imagine didn't help my cause. Alright, back to work then. Thanks!

With nav i run a char with no healing... Use stone boots to break the web they are invaluable.. Just ai or double strike when you get low on life.

I tend to ai every other hit if not every hit.

Start with rocks.. Kill to about 1/4 life or so.. Then rock him again.

I have chained him with a samp .. But my fav for nav is a necro warrior with a shield... 120 weapon and parry in vamp mode.. I can litteraly two button it...

Ai on one button..
Stone shoe macro on other.

Also... get an armored swamp dragon to reduce damage taken by 20% for everything but direct damage.

Tuan post as I did, thank all three of you I mean. Yes, I had an armored swampie. He died right after me :( got him back up by bringing a second toon. He died several more times....

When you die just log out instantly to save the pet. Then rez yourself and take pet from stable or log out and log in again and it will appear near you. Still it's troublesome so for some places i do not take swampy..

Among all the skill/suit suggestions previously mentioned...strategy makes Navrey a cakewalk...I typically solo Navrey in 5 minutes with a personal record of 4:34 (and I never use a swampy).

You planned on Healing over Necro for the webs...but carry stone boots and don't get stuck in them. If you're in EC, create a dress macro that has your exact suit as normal, just with stone boots. Once you see them equipped, use your normal dress macro to take them off and put your normal boots back on. I do this throughout the fight and its never taken me more then 3 seconds to get back to fighting. If you're in CC you can still have the 2 sets of armor macroed...you just have to manually pull the boots off then press the macro for the current set of boots you need (I did this in CC long before I switched to EC so it works in both clients). That should negate the need for Healing since you won't really have a time where you're not leeching life. Also, cast counter attack and you'll sporadically hit for an extra DS or AI for more healing.

First and foremost, get that char loyal to Trinsic at Legends and make use of the 5 ssi trade deal they offer there.
With a double axe, you need a lot of stamina to swing fast. Getting it to 1.25s is ideal, but I make do there with 1.5s swing speed with my 100% fire double axe.

You also need LMC up to 40 + 5 from iron armour and stone boots to break from the web when she gets you stuck. Also, you better have lots of spare mana for double strike. I usually have at least 60 mana there.
With 120 bush and 120 parry, use evasion when things get ugly so you have extra defence while you try to leech life back. Use that time to cast a few divine fury to refresh stamina during that time as well.
Once that is over, use confidence during the downtime to heal further and gain back stamina every time you parry.

You can use the rocks to speed up the fight, but I am not a fan of them. I much prefer to have a 4x120 bard running provo songs along, with a -20 mage spider slayer bow pelting her away to help with damage, and to disco her.
Healing can be helpful there, but you need at least 60 anat to be able to heal poison, and she uses poison fairly often.

Edit: Also, if you haven't refined your suit, try to have 45 DCI on this fight. It helps a lot.

How long does it take you to kill Navrey? Running 2 clients seems to be a pain in the ass when it should only be a couple minute fight. This has got to be the easiest boss in UO to fight...no keys to attain and dead in mere minutes...plus rock her 2x (one at beginning of fight then fight her and one when the rocks are available again and she's dead). Having to take 2 toons down seems like severe overkill.

Thank you all again, this is really helpful. I know the spider is supposed to be easy for a lot of folks but I'm combat-disabled. If there were a boss you could beat by standing next to it in stealth and hitting animal lore, I'd be king of Britain.....as it is, I shovel Blackthorn's stable.

Bealank, I completely forgot about town loyalty, will do that tonight if possible.

250 MS ping. Can't use rocks on my own.
With two chars and disco, it usually takes between 5 to 7 minutes to kill her, depending on how pesky she is being with the teleports (specially when she keeps throwing the bard around) and how high her fire resistance is.

I played it mostly for Tangle and my way was stones + 4-5min fight + stones. Tank it all the time and there is no risk of dying there. I suggest checking out vendors if u cannot craft suit. Legendaries are cheap now and u can easily get correct pieces to get 40LMC etc.

There's not many videos online to reference for a template like yours for Navrey. If I have time tonight I'll make a video of Navrey (my temp is almost identical to yours - just have finished skills). Maybe it'll help u...maybe not. We'll c :)

What shard are you on?

Baracoon is only marginally more difficult than this. I just stand next to him and AI every swing till he spawns some rats, swap to a couple whirlwinds to drop the spawn, then back to AIs. I killed him the other day in about 2:45.

Barracoon is cake for me on my thrower. Total pushover. But this is my first attempt at playing a non ranged, non tamer high end character. Shoot, I would probably die to old rat face on this character just as bad as I did to big momma. So part of the problem is obviously how to use this type of character. I'll get there, I was just very discouraged last night. Really do appreciate the help everyone.

Until you have above 150 stam on this guy... you should look at using a hatchet and AIs. Reforge it to 96% HLL for better leech or 96 HML for more damage from AI-ing.

You don't mention potions. You can probably get someone to imbue you a jewelry set with 20% each of enhance pots (or vendor search to find some cheap 25%s) and then you get 30 str (and 15HP) and 30 stam... which when you're full of stam will give you .25s faster swing.

I can do the imbue itself, I just have to collect ingredients. So I was thinking for the ring / bracelet combo something like:

15 hci
15 dci
10 ssi

With what's left you think I should do enhance portions? I'll check that out.

But that really interrupts my rage face :)

I know to do that in theory but inevitably I forget in the heat of the moment.

And someone asked the shard this was on, it is Legends. Great, great shard!

I wouldn't waste 15 DCI on a jewel imbue.
Get a pair of clockwork legs for 25 DCI instead and imbue something more useful on the jewel.

I don't bother with EP on my 'main' jewelry set because you only need to hit a new pot every 3 minutes, so it's pretty easy to just move off for a screen or two, swap, quaff and swap back.

Since good clean 10 ssi jewelry is still hard to come by, i would suggest thinking exactly about what to imbue on these. Just saying, i often build some sort of prototype suit to see if things are working as expected before burning hard to replace stuff.

This.

If you have 120 Ninjitsu you can stone on you could do it as you are using Mirror Images. You then wouldn't need 120 weapon skill, Bushido, Parry, Chivalry or max swing. Just a 100% fire Spider Slayer.

The stone boots thing I imagine makes it easy but not something I've tried.

I think Navrey also has a pitiful mana pool so you could also let it dump on you beforehand.

Tons of great input here... but you probably can't use it all as some will conflict with each other. So keep that in mind.

I actually got back into Navrey for the first time in over a year last week. She's a great tank challenge. I run with a 100% Fire Bladed Staff with HML, HSL, SSI, and DI with my sampire. I'll have to look at my suit again.

CorwinXX

Firstly get some normal suit. For example:
4.3.2. Cheap suit

On this stage you want to maximize DI/HCI, get HLD and increase HP/Stamina/Mana/LMC.
For example, you can have:
6 armor pieces with 4 HPI, 7 MI, 7 SI, 6 LMC, 13 Res
Mana Phasing Orb with 5 HCI, 15 DI
2 jewels with 22 DI, 13 HCI, 13 DCI, some stats or skills
weapon with Slayer, DI, HML, HSL, HLD or HCI

You can refine it to get 75 Physical resistance.
You can alternate special move (AI/DS) with Lightning Strike to avoid double mana cost for special moves while doing pretty high damage.

Such suit is enough to farm gold and to solo mini spawns in Abyss.
