While we're working on the NPC vendors, would it be possible to please change the way player vendors charge players?

A much better way would be to charge a percentage of the sale price on an item at the point of sale rather than charging a per day cost. With prices going up, I can't keep a vendor up for longer than a day without it costing me 50-100k. It would make much more sense to charge a percentage of the total cost of the item when it's sold than to charge per day costs so us little people who live outside of Luna can keep up shops as well as those inside the walls.

It may also entice people to start looking outside of Luna for better prices on items if there are more options throughout the world.

If it was only based on sales people would simply use vendors as free storage; there needs to be a charge per day.

Ok why not have the vendor cost a flat rate to encourage those leaving vendors sit with nothing on them to either use them or remove them but also making it affordable to run a vendor regardless of what is on them. The higher you price something the more it charges when the item sells also. Sure it isn't much of a change but it is better than scaling the per day cost based on how much your trying to charge for things. I think maybe a flat per item charge would be better.

In which case, items on vendors should add to the house storage making it ultimately useless to put things on it for storage space.

This is also a reason I think they should make BOD Books take up a single space regardless of the amount of bods in it.

If you charge per item, players that sell lower end items with be hurt more then wealthy vendor owners; what about items sold for free? I used to load up vendors once and a while with free items. The current system encourages a free market sellers are forces to price items so they sell fairly quickly or else their profits will be eaten by vendor fees; this helps keep prices lower for consumers.

What if you charge a percentage of the sale price when they place the item on the vendor and another tax when the item is sold?

This will be hugely unpopular, but I stress that this was the best of UO's community heyday:

Remove private vendors.

Shops that will make a profit are those who are actually physically staffed. You might see real people in at shops in Britain again. You'd remove storehouses of tons and tons of stuff.

It might actually work to bring some community back to the MMORPG that UO is supposed to be.

Just my suggestion to fix the vendor issues. No vendors, no price problems.
