Player Made Gauntlet?

Does anyone remember Mutamin's Challenge at the Green Griffen inn from Neverwinter Nights? Basically he's a super rich retired adventurer and he's made a dungeon under his inn packed with monsters and loot. You (the player) get to kill the nasties and grab the loot while NPC Nobles watch from a special viewing room.

So I was thinking of setting up a 'gauntlet' in a custom designed 18x18. Has anyone tried this? Would it work? Would you be interested in participating or being a spectator?

Here are some of my random ideas:

* Custom designed 18x18 in a dungeon / labyrinth theme
* Small viewing tower for spectators in one corner ( 4x4 ? )
* Populated with monsters collected by a Tamer or Spellweaving (can the monsters tamed with spellweaving be released like you can release a tameable?)
* Various chests with valuable loot. Some may be locked and have to find the key elsewhere.
* Some chests are trapped
* "The Minatour" - Player with a big axe and a ringmail tunic :) must defeat him to get the best loot. (looking for volunteers hehe)
* Players enter wearing only a robe (for decency's sake). Regs, bandies, and low-end armour/weps are discovered along the way.
* Players enter alone and continue until death (or they defeat the entire gauntlet). When or if they die everything they've acquired is theirs to keep, but that's the end of their chance at the gauntlet.

I think the hardest part would be to balance the thing so it's not too hard and not too easy.

Sounds like a bit of fun to me, you could do monthly or fortnightly events depending on your time. Maybe do it for a few months then have a grand final and all those who made it through compete in increasingly harder gauntlets to come up with a grand champion.

Any way all sounds great to me if I can help in any way just scream out in alliance.

Try PvP, if you trams are looking for excitement and a challenge...

Releasing a few greater dragons in an 18*18 would take 2 seconds to destroy.

UO has basic/no monster AI, hence pvp is the only challenge as its a real player who in MOST cases can think and do random moves. TRY IT.

I have a few times and just did not like the atmosphere that surrounds it. Thanks any way, but I am happy taking my chances with the dragons.

I did try it. Ask Gilligan what happened yesterday morning :) Please don't troll my thread or try to hijack it into a PvP/Fel/Tram debate. UO is a sandbox game and PvP is only one small aspect of it.

Von Beck do you need any help setting up your gauntlet? I am sure there are heaps of PoC and TBD for that matter willing to help out.

I'm totally willing to help!

Was thinking perhaps you could have more then one player type monster to kill and as loot they can carry keys to locked rooms?

Arcanists can charm minotaurs if you need one for the labyrinth.

Also Fox ran a "last man standing" pvp house where you had to run between levels to chase each other down & kill each other.. anyone here remember that? I seem to remember Lady Kat, Petrify and Lair Spirit were in it among others.. I could be way off.

perhaps levels of different monsters as you progress through the gauntlet...but you would need a cast of handy tamers on stand by to replenish for each run through.
