So recently I hosted an educational crafting event to talk about all the ways of crafting. I hope it brought some enlightenment to some people about some of the weird parts of crafting! (On a side note, if you want more info about crafting and it's related professions please feel free to ask me here or in game!)

What I really have no clue about in game though is serious PvM. I can toss a dragon at spawn all day long, but I'd love to get back into being an Archer or maybe some swords and board. I used to know how to be a warrior back when all you needed was 100 swords, a halberd, and some NPC plate mail.

Now I go naked and barely point my arrow in the right direction.... I'm really confused.... and equally as terrible, and reading the warrior forums on Stratics is comparable to understanding PVP smack talk in /chat late at night :drama:.

So does anyone already run some kind of gear/tactics/etc event I can join in on? Or interested in creating one? I'd be happy to help you host one, but my knowledge on the current state of non-tamer non-mage combat in UO is pretty lackluster.

Try THIS link here. I posted this in the Warrior Forums for someone trying to raise tactics but you will gain fighting skill from it as well. There are many different types of archers you can use but I will give you my bard archer template to start.

120 Archery
120 Tactics
120 Anatomy
100 Chivalry
120 Music
120 Disco

I discord and kite the mobs, its fun and I can take some high end things. You need to be careful where you fight because its not great for multiple mobs if you can't kill them fairly quick. I will try and post some other templates later when I get home. I am heading to work now.

well, the standard ABC works pretty well. 120 arch, tact, bush, heal, anat, chiv. but I'm not really a huge fan of that. you could try a varient of the garg wammy and do this...

120 arch
120 tactics
120 bushido
120 spirit speak
120 resist
120 chiv

if you bring some wraith form scrolls you can rock in wraith form, use short bows for little spawn and composite to AI bosses. wraith form leeches mana back for you so you can just chain AIs with a slayer bow... works well on pretty much everything except the new dungeons. of course, perfection and chiv spells add damage (and luck too)

you can heal using spirit speak, bush and chiv

if you want to melee, make a sampire. they're a lot of fun to play

Did not think of that! However, I've read some pretty decent arguments for using spellweaving for healing instead. Mostly due to focus circles and the ability to just natures fury/etherial voyage in busy spots. I'm going to pick it up for jack of all trades nature's fury at the moment as I do have 91 healing with max dex atm.

Huh AI? whut? I don't know most of the UO Acronyms at the moment :(

i won't ever argue against spellweaving... it's an awesome skill. however, i find it frustrating on a dexxer because it leeches mana like crazy. that's why i suggested the spirit speak + wraith form for the mana leech thus allowing you to punish bosses with armor ignores.

so you can compare damage output.... my sampire ALWAYS beats greater dragons (and their accompanying tamer) when fighting champ spawn bosses--i get the skull (the one who does the most damage at champ spawns gets the skull). well, a wammy (or archer variant like i suggest) can double the amount of armor ignores that my sampire does--when a wammy is fighting a boss with me, i never get the skull.

also, if you want to pvp (or at least venture into fel) you can put 60 necro on the fella and get a 100 lrc suit with 2/6 and will be able to effectively cast necro spells (up to blood oath, no strangle or wither or anything) which will compliment your arch template well. That's a pretty heavy suit/template though and a waste in pvm..... but there's some thoughts.

... maybe i should start playing again, hmmmm

I'd just like to stop by and thank NANOC for taking some time to sit down and chat with me about some skills and gear ideas earlier this week. I took some of his advice out hunting and realized while putting it into practice I was probably doing it all wrong in the first place! Actually had a good time on my Archer and didn't feel like I was wasting my time.

Chivalry is up to 50 skill points just from yesterday, and I bought a cheap 120 scroll this morning.... I feel a new addiction coming on after looking at the spreadsheet I made last night :)

I do need to look into upgrading my suit.... I've not run the final stats on what i have now, cause I'm sure it's terrible, but I put some Mana Regen sleeves on and I didn't run out of Mana as long as I remembered to use Honorable Execution correctly ;)
