OK.. I am a new player on Siege Perilous.
I have the same character on all English speaking shards.
Because of the one character rule I could never figure a way to get started on Siege.

Then I saw a post about the New Guild.
And the wonderful people there gave me the foot * in the door I needed.

* ( arms, legs, power scrolls etc. etc. etc. etc ...whooo I'm getting embarrassed ) .

Love this group of dedicated Players. They have my upmost respect!

Because I have been playing this game from day one when it was Fel rule set only, no problems I know what to expect.

I find I am playing here more and more.
( Not ready to drop my house on Atlantic yet though ).

OK, back to my question.

( This is without me being marked as a New newbie )
I would like to fit in without problems.

So when I get PKed should I :

1. report my killer with a murder count?
( assuming he is trying to rack up a score )

2. report my killer with a murder count?
( warn others on chat and say X just pked me?)

3. no report, but go on chat and report X in a brilliant attack just killed me?

4. Just say : Gosh darn it to myself, and go on about my business.

Makes no difference to me, I just want to know how to respond.

A friend told me today that if ya don`t give them a count ya don`t get dry looted. Dunno how true that is...haven`t been pk`d yet. Doesn`t matter really to me if they take my stuff but if theres a chance I can keep my armor or jewelry...sure i`ll go along with whatever the protocol is.

I`m curious to see what the general answer to this is myself.

Act with honor, and treat honor with respect.

More often than not a PK wants a count - their number of murder counts is their badge of honor. I typically do not count, that is your decision. Also depends on if they are blue or red. If a blue interferes in something they should not, then they get a count. If it's just battlefield warfare, where battle is expected, I won't count a blue.

If it's a red - if the battle was with honor, and I know they want the count I'll give it to them. Most of the time I don't.

You don't need to announce who the pk's of the shard are, most know. However, being in NEW, I would let your fellow NEW guildies know since they are new to this world.

Last - if you resurrect and return to your body - do not loot your body until the pk gives you permission or has left the scene (stay about 7-10 paces away from your body if the pk is still nearby). You lost, they won, they've earned the right. If you try and loot, they can rez-kill. This usually applies to a 1 v 1, in a battle scenario, grab your gear as fast as you can and get back in the fight (unless there are rules preventing it).

This mostly applies to pk's with honor - which most pk's are usually. There are some asshat pk's, do with them as you please.

There´s no "THE" way to respond.

If you get PKd, stick around and see if the PK will res you after he´s done going through your inventory. If he resses you, you might even get some pointers on things. If he resses you and then kills you again, leave the area and res at a moongate or town.

You´ll eventually learn who the honorable PKs are and who the non-honorable Pks are.

And there´s nothing wrong with saying in GC "Look out. XXXX is out looking for victims in *insert whatever area in Sosaria*. After all, us sheep must look after each other.

As long as one doesn´t get upset and starts cursing it´s all good...


About the drylooting and murder counts.

Some might dry loot if you give them a count I guess but then again, there´s been PKs that dry looted if you DIDN´T give them a count.

Siege rule #1: Never wear what you can´t afford to lose!

What you do is engage your killer in a little convo. Make small talk with him on the finer points of PK'ing. While secretly you are calling in the gank squad to pwn him a new one and make him think twice about killing you again. Then you loot him dry and send him on his merry way!!

first thing id do is ask in gen chat if they want the count .

then ask if you can buy back your stuff. many times if you are polite it will be at little or no cost. some just loot you to get you out of the fight and are more than happy to return stuff once its all over.

alot of the ones who pk here are actually reasonable guys who, if treated with respect, will return it . some wont of course. keep track of who is who.

and for heaven sakes, if the guy wants to be a jerk about it , dont start arguing . noone wants to hear it except the jerks who feed on it in the first place . give them no such satisfaction. just leave and re suit .

i tell new people here to always have a suit ready on the shelf . its like prepaid insurance. chalk it up to "part of the game" and move on.


if someone does take your last suit, dont despair , ask in general chat. if i'm on ill make you a suit , as i'm sure many will help if asked nicely.

idk about others but when i was red i would dry loot if i wasnt counted a red wants counts so counts any honorable kill

Thats what I thought, if your killin someone you must want a count. Made no sense what my friend said. For me a red gets a count and a blue doesn`t....unless they are helping said red or just acting like a red thats still blue,they get counted.

Matters little to me if I`m dry looted....always nice if I`m not but it ain`t the end of the world either way. Karma! Tis a small world. I don`t think PK`s are griefers..... to the winner goes the spoils. If ya take a dirt nap.... learn to fight! or at least learn how to make and replace what your going to lose.

It is a game.

Victimology may also be/can be as independant as YOU are or wish to be as *the victim* especially if you are not a pvper etc.

I play crafters, thus I play a pretty darn bunch of easy kills, characters.

I already assume whomever pks my chrs. will take whatever they may wish to from my corpseys, and if it is some holiday, I may even ADD goodies sayin Merry Christmas, or whatever, on my chrs. for them TO loot.

There are times when someone new comes here TO be a murderer or pk.
I may give em a count cuz they are hoping to get a rep. become a red, or I feel sorry for em cuz, it took them longer to DO the murder than the pros.

Sometimes if they are entertaining I give em a count.
Afterall if ya been pkd since like 1998, same old same, ya kinda hopin they be a lil entertaining when they off your defenseless chrs.

IF I like em and they be known murderers, chances are I give em a count, to add to their many counts.

If I think they playin a ahole or ARE ONE, chances are I never give em a count. I do not give *res killers* counts either.

Just seems dumb to stand there to 'let em kill ya over and over again and again, when they are known for being a res killer just EXIT...
ya got better things to do in the game, than entertain THEM gettin their rocks off res killin folks whom should just IGNORE em and LEAVE !

But never forget, if someone IS playin a murderer, they too may need a res one day possibly from one of your chrs., or they may need something maybe YOU can make for them...it does not hurt to talk to them, with them, and as I seem to have gotten a rep for...look at death as a social occassion. Nothin wrong with clickin on THEIR paper dolls while YOU die to see if maybe something they are wearin is about to fall apart.

Sometimes they so busy killin others, that they forget to LOOK at their own suit. If you are a crafter OFFER to fix it for em as ya DIE ! Cuz if they do not get it fixed...then they gonna be the next victim of someone who's suit and weps ARE FIXED !

I click on murderers paper dollies all the time, they may not GET a count from me all the times, but they may get a free repair from my chrs instead ! lol

It is a two way street all the time, even if you're the one seeing hues of grays via them nearly. Cuz there may just be a time when THEY are the ghost, from someone else and they find they are... needing YOU for once for some odd reasons !

When I came to Siege I made crafters only, thus I assumed my chrs.
would be/become VICTIMS, least I try to be an entertaining victim,
*most of the time* LOL

And while I may NOT give em all a count ever all the times,
IF they need a ship bought or something a red maybe can not buy from an npc that they may need, I think most of em know which VICTIMs to trust or to contact ifn they need a temporary blue, to help em out !

I do make one exception to COUNTs...some blues playin a murderer, you can bet your sweet hiney I will COUNT them...to me if ya playin a murderer step up to the plate and GO PERMA RED...and I will help ya GET THERE and give you a count to work off, or I will surely help... perma red, you. I don't care what color someone plays provided they playin WHAT/WHOM THEY REALLY ARE, as a chr.

I really do not like BLUE PKS.
I will take a *red* hued murderer any day, over a FAKE BLUE^PK.

I prefer TRUTH in advertising too.

I agree with Uncle on this one. I will ask if they want the count. If they are looking for a count and you give it to them, they often are very nice about not looting and perhaps even rezzing you. Most of them do want you to at least try to fight back. Some who do not want a count will not loot you unless you count them. Now, if I ask in general chat if they want the count and they don't answer, then I figure it's my discretion.

The 'gentlemen' pvpers (honorable, will not loot unless provoked) are often starving for good fights on Siege, and it would not hurt to have a few more of them around, imho.

Also, sometimes when you find someone who is *not* being nice/fair/honorable about it - it might be that they've just come over from some other shard that is less mature than Siege. Give them a wide berth until they figure out that if they want to have continued pvp on Siege, they need to be able to 'play with others' - even if that is their fellow pvpers.

Not sure if you mean to say count them either way, but your first sentence said otherwise... Aside from all the crying about people looting I happen to agree. I also agree with Sprago, unless I have a particular reason not to loot you, you WILL be dry looted if you don't count me.

If I am killed, I give a count. Its all in fun, this is a game. In this game if you kill me, you are a murderer and you get a count. This only backfired on me once several years ago when this led to me getting my my armor cut up by an entire guild. Again this was great fun, especially since this was before I actually made a huge effort to armor myself right.

Now, I keep several sets of armor on hand so if I lose my armor its not a big deal. And lately I am even collecting doubles of specific help items that help my playstyle. However, I rarely lose a set of armor except to the Slayer in Abyss. I might lose one or two items. Used to be, a PK would only disarm me...take weapon, arrows, bandies and such. Kill my pet. But this is not the case anymore.

Not all PKs are the same, and they will change thier behaviour based on who you are and how you behave. I am good natured about being killed, so I usually don't get much taken from me. Also once I started playing with them instead of just running, some of them don't loot anything at all. The big exception here are my heavy cannons, which are still being held for randsom for 1 mil. This I see as an RP opportunity, which I will get around to dealing with once I am settled in my new house and job, and make the mil thats being asked. It won't take me long. If you dog them on the forums, or whine about being killed, shout hacking all the time, you'll probably have a different experience than I do. If you are a member of the White Council or an antiPK, you may have a different experience than me. Your guild makes a difference. Recently, A PK was surprised to find out I was not a member of GIL and now I rarely see him. This may be a coincidence, but his response was proof that it makes a difference. Also I am sure that my once being a member of PK guild still has some bearing to the few players from that guild that are still around.

Serious concern should be given over price cost when the city next to you isn't selling items for the SAME price and yours... Let alone ACCROSS THE WORLD.

And ed, we both know what you've done to try and grief people. We made crafters more of an impact due to the fact they had to make more armor. And I looted everything for one simple fact. To take my enemy or "victim" out of the fight so they couldnt jump back in with their gear. Its smart tactic in group fighting. But you wouldnt understand because you were kicked from every guild/alliance you were in due to the fact you threw a hissy fit everytime you would die.

You were one of the reasons people dont pk/pvp anymore on siege. The naked bola tamer. Good job... I had fun while i played here, isnt that what it was suppose to be about? Having fun???

Either way you can look back on some of the better times on siege in my time here and say it was horrible, but there are alot more players who would say those were some of the fondest memorys on siege...

Its truely sad, but there are places were people play still... I guess

Im not here to bash siege, just saying that my opinion is that it was more fun when it was highly populated an there were pks/pvp/faction guilds and that this place in uo right now isnt for me. Thats just my opinion, Ill always have a place for siege in me. Had some of my best memories since 99-2003 era.

Im done babbeling, hope all of the remaining players are having fun!

Living in lala land again. I was known for having the best armor you could find. I heard the storys about arguements in YOUR OWN VENT about who was gonna get looting rights to Krews/King Edward.

Okay..... that right there is funny! I always enjoyed a thief with a sense of humor!! But you should have shouted, "I AM RUNNING WITH SCISSORS!"

@Barok- i had my armor (crappy as it was) cut up with my own scissors!! I found it humorous.

As for the original question, I almost always gave a count. I figured if they ever wanted to go blue, that was more one count they have to work off. The only time I didn't give a count was if they rez-killed me or did something else really lame.

pk/victim etiquette are far as i used to play was stick around and try to get a res and or gate out. But nowadays that prolly will just result in res killing. It really all depends on the pk...

The correct answer is to know where you can get rezzed, use your scroll book to get some supplies, and come back and kill the PK, recover your stuff and take what you want of his.

If he's dull enough to stand around waiting for a rez ... then offer him a gate to the chaos shrine. Don't bother flagging - because it's often just a stall tactic to make sure you can't get away when his friends arrive.

If the later happens, just gate out. Dump the loot, and come back and kill his friends too.

Murder counts don't mean anything on Siege, unless there's a blue running around who'd be better off red.

A: Make a macro that says "Count? Yes, No?" hit it before you die... haha

B: Don't count and then after resing ask if they wanted you too if they did offer to let them kill you again so you can count them... =)

idk about others but when i was red i would dry loot if i wasnt counted a red wants counts so counts any honorable kill

imo that means 1v1 and there not jackasses about it

nothing worse then being red and ya are losing counts because people wont count ya

lol this used to get me killed so many times at the beginning. darn people killin me while i mined then would kill me again for not counting them. hehe

They meant nothing. I can't imagine why anyone ever cared - let alone why anyone would let someone who just killed them rez them.

A guildmate/friend named sunFerard rarely attacked first and was never many counts away from turning blue. If he did turn blue, he'd find some way to collect some counts just so nobody who wanted to would avoid attacking him.

If your goal was to pkroxxors as many blues as you could, you kind of missed the point of Siege.

I could careless about getting counted. I almost never dry loot. Very rarely do i talk ****. I will kill you then riffle through your crap and see if anything i want is in there. THen normally ill res and leave them alone for a while.

Now the way a person reacts when i come on screen with them or how they go about their defences can sway my actions after. If they try to fight and stick within a small amount of screens then i wont loot anything even top line junk. If you run for what seems like an endless amount of screens then start the mouthing in game about how i am so horrible and got lucky, their craps gone.


I pk because it seems like an easy way to get some items pretty fast. Now i havent played since the new patch but i do believe its about time for a return. I doubt my conn will allow for me to do altantic but i think i can slow play here pretty good
