pirating

ok so i find a merchant ship use up 28 charges ammo etc had 11 items in hold , boat graphics changed decided to unload some items i had in my pack in the hold so walk to the back of my britania ship less than 30 seconds then walked back to front and the merchant shiphad dissapered . is this a bug or was its spawn timer up and just a coincidence ,i was sad time and ammo waisted and no rewards
is this common place
