Looking down the list, the problem seems to be on the 7th hop... listed as *unknown host*. Because it is early in the path, and because the name bresnan goes back to the 2nd hop, I am assuming it is a problem with one of the routers on his ISP end of things... I'd start with a call to his internet service provider.

I've been having the same problem for over a month. Last night, I sat and watched my ping to see if I'd hit 500 ms. I'm the first to admit that I know enough about computers to fix the small things but all that other stuff confuses the heck out of me.
UO has been almost unplayable for me (I'm on Baja and also use Bresnan Cable) from 7PM until 11PM. I find it strange that I can ping other shards such as Yamato or Atlantic which are much further away and my ping is 1/3 of Baja. Friends of mine in MT (just north of my own state) are also on Bresnan and having the same things happen at night. Maybe it's time to call my cable company but quite frankly, I wouldn't even know what to ask them so I just limit my playtime to crafting between the bad hours. Quite frustrating.

This explains alot. I have bresnan as my provider and my connection is eating dog turds tonight.
Interesting. This is happening to a lot of eastern shard players as well. I mainly play GL, and some Atlantic. Ironically, I can play western shards with pings only a bit higher than my normal shard ping. For me, the problem is on EA's end at the third to last hop, which is an EA subserver. Ever since SA came out, that Washington, D.C., subservor has been going bonkers...I went from 62-78ms all the way up to 156-172ms. This starts around 1 or 2 in the afternoon until midnight. There did seem to be a fix a week or so ago that got it back down, but it looks like it crapped out again, and EA couldn't care less about it. Typical. Don't you love paying for a game you can't even play? Nice.

The *unknown host* (7th hop) is located in Seattle (IP range 66.62.0.0 - 66.62.255.255) The 69.x.x.x IPs are located in New York (IP range: 69.144.0.0 - 69.146.255.255)
