Piles of iron ores question?

Is there an upper limit to how many units of iron ore can be in one pile?

I once saw a post on U.Hall about a macro boat miner in T2A. Before they made it so that ore piles would decay, he had macro-mined up piles of 10-50k of several colors of ore and it was piled up on his deck.

Somebody found him out there and paged a gm, who deleted him, the boat, and the ore. The guy who paged on him was complaining that he didn't get to steal the ore.

I've seen a huge pile of ore just sitting in the open water before. It was really weird.

I tried to grab it but couldn't.

you have to break out the skimmer. go below deck in the secret hatch just below the storage area.
