[Bowcraft/Fletching] Petition for Salvage bag of wood

Anyone else find it a pain in the arse you can't recycle crap wood items you craft like you can with tailoring/smithing?

Making bows/bokutos etc etc... you just gotta throw away the crappy ones...can't recycle them at all...

Why can't we have a bag that acts like the Salvage bag?

Should we petition or is this just a pipe dream?

Really, it doesn't make too good of an idea, as it is hard to rework one item into another, with wood. tailor would be harder than smelting metal, so I assume that's why smiths can do nearly 70% recycling (based on their mining skill, especially with the salvage bag) while tailors are limited to 50%.

Now, I could see the ability to recycle any wooden item to Arrow shafts, but that would only make the bowcrafters a little happy, and suck when you're recycling bloodwood or frostwood.

On the other hand, recycling to boards of the same color might be acceptible if limited to less than the tailor return (say, half the smith return values), and give it the "+1 back" salvage bag bonus that smiths get, but tailors don't.

I just think it'd be nice to get something back...I've burned through hundreds of Ash wood... and got nothing to keep... and all that wood goes to waste =/

Then it's off to chop more wood. That's no fun =)

I would personally be satisfied with being able to destroy them at all. I'm working Fletching right now, and I must say it's extremely annoying having to trash all of my bows one by one, unless I craft them into a bag to trash.

If you're not doing the heartwood quest while training fletching then take your boards to an NPC bowcraft shop. Selling all your bows can get you 3-5gp per board used. If you have UOAssist use the sell agent and sell them all at once.

Sadly I stopped using UO Assist because it gives me an error if I log out of one character, and try to log into another, and won't log in. After getting said error, I have to completely restart UO to even log in.

It doesn't take that much longer to sell them individually especially since they did away with the 5 item limit. My bowcrafter had a bit if cash by the time he gmed bowcraft. I think it would be nice to be able to recycle all the bows I loot and end up tossing.

Remyi, you REALLY need to be in heartwood doing those quests to train - especially if you have a machine that can support KR well enough to craft.

Even if you use it for nothing else, you can use KR to do about 3 quests every two minutes (thats 29-30 quests, or what 1 pack animal plus the crafter can hold, at max pack capacity, in 20 minutes), or 900 bows/an hour (if you take 3-5 packies inside) - and that's WITH KR marking the items for you (though, with the failures in training, you'll still have to occasionally re-mark a few items left over, if you use make number). Heck, you can get your character and the pack animal INTO Heartwood using 2D, log out, then re-log in on the character with KR, already sitting in place. Of course with multiple packies, after the first packy, you'll have to start moving the crafter satchels to your empty packy, to sort afterward in the quest for fletching runics.

As for UOAssist not working right with your 2D client - that sounds more like an issue where you need to reinstall both 2D AND UOAssist, as something is broken in one of your current installs.

Only way I can do Heartwood quests is with KR...It pretty much does it all for you.

I tried it manually before using UOA as a help... that was tediouuuuuuus.

I don't know what the problem with UO Assist is. It happened before I took a break for a year, as well, and I did a fresh install of both programs about two weeks ago. When I log out of one character with UO Assist running, it logs out fine. When I try to log into my account again, to pick a different character, it gives me an error about a changed data stream and says something about having to download an update for the .dll file.

As for the quests in Heartwood...I was doing them for awhile, but I got annoyed with having to repeatedly pick up and cancel until I got the one I was working on.

You don't HAVE to cancel the quest....

If you repeatedly click the NPC or the NPC's bar, it will change the quest after a few clicks. Takes 1-5 seconds, typically (rarely as long as 8-10) to get to the quest you want (since they only offer 6).

They aren't macros, for one thing...

They are actually choices in the tool gump itself. In KR, right above the buttons for "Enhance item" and "Repair item", is a box for "Toggle as quest item". If you have that box marked, anything you make that has an active quest will be marked automatically.

Below those two buttons, are the Make Last, Make Number, & Make Max buttons.

Make Number and Make Max are a choice of one or the other, and will be interrupted by a crafting failure. Note that many of the custom UIs for KR (BB Enhanced, for example), have renamed "Make Max" into "Make Max until Failure", and put in an extra "Make Max" button that doesn't stop for failures. If you are doing quests while training the actual crafting skill, I would suggest using "Make Number", probably at a number around 3-5 (getting the number to go into the box for Make number is a bit tricky, but stays the same once set, until toggled off). If training Arms Lore (or filling quests for rewards) with an item 100% chance of success, then set "Make Number" for the amount you need for the quest. You then click the "Make Now" button to trigger your choice of crafting.

Note that any items in excess of the amount needed for the quest will be "unmarked" when the others for the quest disappear, so will have to be re-marked by hand. This is why I suggest making smaller number if not 100% success chance, and why you shouldn't "make max" in conjunction with quests. Of course, if training to toss out/recycle, "Make Max" is the way to go (just make recyclable items with the raw materials in a salvage bag)
