Pet training on Test Center

I must be doing something incorrect, but I can't train my pet in TC1. I keep getting the recent combat message, but it has been an entire day and it still thinks i've been in combat.

I have logged on and off and stabled, what am i doing wrong?

It's a bug. Stable your pet, then kill yourself (your character). Preferably near a healer. After you are revived and 2 minutes pass, everything should work for awhile.
