I just got a Fire Beetle for my miner and was wonder if you have to stable it for a week to get it to bond, or can I use it and still have it bond after a week?

No, it doesn't have to be stabled but you take the risk of it dying. That is why most people recommend stabling for the week. We had a guy in the guild that kept taking his firebeetle out and getting it killed. After the third day, no one was willing to tame him another one.

Stabling is the safest way to bond a pet.

Yes, it is much safer to leave it in the stables to bond. However it does not have to be stabled in order to bond. Just needs to not die for a week lol. I always stable my pets just in case though, I dont like my pets to dye :)

You have to feed it before the bonding process starts and it has to stay wonderfully happy throughout the bonding process. Which makes stabling it the easiest way to do it.

But it isn't required. You can use it and still bond with it.

But be warned, many of the people who I've tamed a fire beetle for (and there's a lot of you out there, silly miners!) came back 3-4 days later asking for a second to replace the dead one.
