Personal Attendant not greeting on entering house?

Put my personal attendant up today after being in chest for a while, and it no longer greet people that enters the house the usual way, but greet fine when entering house from teleporter tile.

Anyone else have this issue? And when did it stop working if it is a general issue?

On a related note: I have a personal attendant as a deed. Can I redeed him after use or will he turn human irreversibly?
