Perm Stats Lost !!! Be Careful if using Pets in Covetous

While I can not say what caused it in Covetous but My greater dragon of 2+ years is ruined.

I have not used my dragon in a long while but its stats was fine before I used it in Covetous. I did not notice it at first but I noticed that my dragon was acting a little off so I lored it and noticed the stats were way lower than it should be. At first I thought maybe it got cursed so I waited and then it was confirmed that it has lost stats across the board.

Dragon lost 40 in each stat which render is useless since its dex is now 85 so it moves slow and it attacks slow and damage is lower.....

I first thought maybe its the curse bug appearing again but if it was, it would not be a straight 40 stat points across the board. Something in Covetous must have caused it since that is all I did today.

Use your pets in there at your own risk. I am beyond mad as any other tamer would be. Devs, all I can say is this since I don't want to be banned ()&%&$%*(&$*(%&&#()@@)*)*)@~!!!!!!*()&$%)(%&*)

Man, had to log on and check mine real quick. I was around for 2 waves tonight and no change in mine thankfully. Sorry yours seems goofed up, hopefully it will return to normal with a little more time. Thanks for the heads up tho.

Could be true, but not sure. I'd have someone else lore the pet, as well. Is it 85/85 Dex? Dex could/should be able to be replaced, whereas a loss in STR would certainly be a huge nerf. Would like to see the entire lore report before launching nukes.

WOW That is on bad curse. What LvL of Covetous were you on? We did a spawn at the Void Pool last night and got 42 spawns before it was all over. GD is fine, I always ck before stabling.

I think mine's ok: str 620/dex 125/int 540, but it hasn't been in Cove.

Might be a bug in the dungeon server code, since we got got Hue changes to a min. of 2 critters in SA, plus the doubling of all spawn, probably dropped a bracket or something.

I tried to train the dex back up for a couple hours last night after the post and it is not going back up. It is staying at 85/85. I don't post accusation post without checking it out extensively first.

I have tried multitude of training methods and dex remained the same.

It will does not make up for the str and int stat issue and oh yeah the hp went down significantly which really sucks.

My pet died 3 times in a period of around 6+ hours of playing and I have not noticed anything unusual when resurrecting.

I did just about everything new in covetous using that dragon (Cora, Void pool, general monster killing in level 1 and level 3)

Yeah, you're right. Lopping off the strength and intelligence and hit points.....I'd be fuming mad too. All I can say is that you have my sympathy and I wish you the best of luck finding a replacement.

Finding a replacement is not the issue. I the type of player that like to find their own dragon and tame them. I find the artifacts I want by killing the right monsters. I am not poor at all and people that know me knows that I want to obtain what I need with my own hands if at all possible.

The lose of this dragon is a personal matter and while some people might be saying that you are crying over pixels, my response is that I treat my pixels as milestones in my UO playing life and that dragon was a good pet to use for a long time.

I could have replaced it with a better dragon many times in the past but like some tamers, I like my dragon and there is not another one in UO that could replace it!

Nope, even if something is discorded, it is based on a % value based on each stat's initial value. In this case, it is a straight 40 stats cut off and not a % of str lost and % of dex lost ect.

The stats were changed permanently...... how do you propose I "fix" it?

cursed calculation is based on eval int of the caster (monster) and resisting spell of target (dragon). Even if I do find the proper eval int and go through the trouble of make one of my char to have that exact eval int skill and cast curse on my dragon again it will just lower its stat even more.

I can be related to difficulty scaling of waves, and possible reptile spawn most dangerous for tamed dragons.

Maybe stupid thought, but have you tried casting the Paladin 'Remove Curse' on the dragon? Mystic Cleansing Winds may be worth a try too... in the hope they kick something back into line.

actually thats not true.

Disco takes NOTHING off the stats.
it takes 28 straight points off of the resists.
it takes 28% off the skills.
(at Legendary)

so from what you are saying about the stats being messed up on your pet that wouldnt be disco in any way shape or form.
(example from a old archived pic i had from the barding forum)

so with that info in hand it sounds more like your pet is either in some sort of old faction stat hit or its cursed with multiple spells that dont seem to be running out. (clumsy ect ect)

not on a pet, but i've had this happen on my thief before from slasher, normally his curse lasts until you remove it or die but i actually had it persist after dying and it refused to be removed by normal means. IIRC the only thing that was able to remove it was casting curse on myself again which seemed to reset the timer and it wore off finally. Weird that it was exactly 40 in all stats but it could be something similar, a stuck status ailment.

ya know, thinking back i use to have this problem with my pets years ago, nothing like this, but kinda in the same ball park, i would be using them to pvp and they would get locked onto to someone who recalled away or if i recalled away and they would be effectively stuck.
they wouldn't move or anything.
just stand there.
even after killing them and stabling them for days and such.

i would have to page a GM and wait for them to come, they knew what was happening and i would just have to wait for them to 'reset' my pets then i could carry on again.

they eventually fixed it, but im wondering if its the same kinda thing.

i wonder if a GM can 'reset' your pet?

ya know it wouldn't hurt any to page and tell him the stats are all stuck 40 points below norm and ask him if HE can see anything wrong with it.

While paging for a Gm to help might work, but given their track record when dealing with fixing things that is not a common occurrence they tend to say "submit a bug report but sorry I can not fix this for you".

I am too aggravated right now to continuously page and hope for different GMs and it might lead to me getting banned because I lose it and say unpleasant things. I will give that a try next week if I have the time and have cooled off a little. This problem plus the change to hailstorm along with the event quest favoring scriptors has turned me off to even log on for longer than 30 minutes let along waiting for a GM for hours.

I have stayed with this game since the beginning (account is as old as the game) and lately I am starting to find it harder and harder to give Devs\Producer the benefit of the doubt.

Hm. If the pet was affected by a curse, that curse would have to be a 32% reduction to go from 125 to 85. TC1 finds 125 DEX lowering to 103 DEX given 120 eval int and 0 magic resist, which is a reduction of 18% (rounded to ceiling, I suppose). I'm not sure what a mob would have to have in order to drop an elder Magic Resist Spells dragon 40 points but a curse seems fairly unlikely. I mean, the Dread Horn can drop stats like that, but as far as I know there's nothing in Covetous that drops stats other than through magery.

This happened to one of my dragons also a little while back. I was using it in Ilshenar to kill sifted creatures so I doubt it's unique to Covetous. It's been like this for several weeks now and I've tried everything aforementioned to fix it to no avail.

So what we know is this bug has existed since at least the addition of sifting. Shooting in the dark this bug looks as if the game is re-rolling the base stats, but maybe it's simply just a reduction.

According to Stratics, the above greater dragon stat lines fit within known ranges, except for 473 INT, which is lower than normal (perhaps undocumented). Both dragons dropped to 85 DEX though, which seems too unusual to not to be a coincidence.

Well, consider those nukes fired. Unfortunately this bug sounds like something similar to how items were changing when Shame first came out, in that the bug might not be widespread enough to collect data at first.

I would contact Mesanna right away and, is it possible that either of you have clones on Test Center? Perhaps they still have a backup shard, or your pet might be available on Test for comparison purposes?
