Has anyone purchased this from the code store yet? Do you have to have the "Source" Runebook in your backpack to copy it or can you target a runebook that is locked down like at a rune library?
Because its so hard to get 21 runes, a rune book, and just recall off of a rune libraries runes and mark your own, creating your own runebook right?Wow, I hope you can't target a runebook that isn't yours... That would cheapen the work of every rune library author if their hard work could be 'stolen' so easily.
But, chances are you won't be able to copy a 'locked down resource' same as books.
Could do my way, found a rune library that went IDOC, while people were looting goodies I looted the books.... At least this way they weren't lost.Whether you realize it or not, keeping up a good rune library is a lot of work. No owner that I know objects to people copying a few books for personal use. Copying the entire thing to open up your own rune library is stealing someone else's hard work.
Library etiquette (this is something library owners do amongst themselves) would have someone first ask if its okay to copy the work and then give credit to the original set owner who built the set.
If this pen allowed you to copy runebooks that are locked down under any circumstances, I would probably give up and shut down Goodman's Rune Library. Goodman realized there was no stopping the copiers so sometimes he even helped them but it always made him sad that people wouldn't support him. I can't tell you how many people I get who think it's okay to steal all the work we've done.
I've been working on keeping Goodman's memory and library alive for 5 years and all the while trying to support community endeavors of my shard. Rune Libraries are almost always held by people who want to support their communities. All they ask in return is some support and some respect.

Mapper, is it right.I'm sure I read in another thread that even if your friended to a rune library you cannot copy locked down books.
I don't agree with copying entire libraries to open your own, but in reality how would you tell if someone copied your library or not? I personally have my own mini library of places where people have gated me and I thought useful and marked a rune there.Whether you realize it or not, keeping up a good rune library is a lot of work. No owner that I know objects to people copying a few books for personal use. Copying the entire thing to open up your own rune library is stealing someone else's hard work.

You'd lose way more than you make by going that route.I believe it's probably meant for people who sell marked rune books, like town or dungeon books.
Off topic slightly, But the amount of people I saw marking these type of books during the Halloween event was hilarious, In monster form it was pritty safe!I've found it nice for copying books full of dangerous locations. You know the ones, you gate in, get swarmed, die 30 times before you can actually mark a rune and then get out. I can survives those spots with my Sammie or maybe another character, but not my scribe/mage.
Now this statement is dead on! :gun:Sometimes it's not about making gold, but providing a service. It may be worth it to the person marking the books to save himself the time it takes and use it for something else?
