If that would be Animal Taming instead of Animal Lore, then the ring might have been quite valuable. Most people would probably find that Animal Lore is too easy to raise and would rather have a more difficult skill on their jewelery, but that *could* just be me

Agreed. Animal Lore is easy to raise. However might be good for a mage though. 0/3, 14 DCI, and 18 LRC is nice.

Well I do use it on my mage. Me saying animal lore is the best part was a joke, but I did realize there are mage tamers and such now so it is ok I'm guessing. I just don't know what it would be valued at.
