The 18th anniversary is almost upon us! That is almost two decades - quite a run. Soon enough we'll be able to express it in generations.

This list covers mostly UO events.

Each year, people of PaxLair grow a little older and a bit wiser. New people join PaxLair breathing new ideas into our town, statehood, alliance, and community.

18 years seems like a long time. Yet for many of us, PaxLair is simply part of our lives. Thus, time goes by quickly along with everything else we do.

I welcome everyone to the upcoming 18th PaxLair Anniversary events that NANOC is planning and many governors, mayors, leaders, citizens, and friends are preparing.

Dragonspeed and see everyone Friday and into January 19th (the anniversary day)!

It was a great 18th Anniversary Dinner last night! Thanks!

We welcomed EM Dramnar and recognized Lord British and Lord Blackthorn (both were not able to be present), all EMs, and the developers for creating the wonderful Realm we've called home for over 18 years.

We had dinner, dancing, revelry, and then I gave my Anniversary Speech. Many people spoke about PaxLair, our great Alliance, and the Realm too. Many people made this Anniversary week happen including the dinner. Thank you all!

Below is my speech for those who could not make it to the dinner:

Welcome everyone to the PaxLair 18th Anniversary Day!!
I guess today makes us legal! ... being 18.

Welcome to the PaxLair Castle in lovely downtown PaxLair City.
This castle, owned by Dark Rayne,
is a symbol of how strong PaxLair and we are here.

A castle is a fortress and also a place of community.
A castle can store many things for times of war and famine.
A castle can provide a place for festivals and feasts, like tonight.
A castle has walls to keep out the unwanted and severe weather.
A castle has a door letting in friends and allies.
A castle can be sieged and people defend it.
And, heaven forbid, a castle can be abandoned and turn to ruins and dust.

Our PaxLair, our castle, and our people,
are strong and will never be abandoned.

We've seen over 18 years of life in this Realm.
We've been here for nearly all of it.
Our Realm is as resilient as we are.
It and we continue to create and enjoy a place we call home.
This Realm adapts and stays fresh
as a new sunrise brings new light each day.
Hosts of this Realm, like our Event Manager Dramnar
and the gods (developers), ...
work very hard to bring us events and challenges
so we may enjoy new things and keep growing.

We challenge ourselves and those around us
to do great things in and for this Realm.
We appreciate the dedication of so many people
like the volunteers and new owners of Stratics.
People in our PaxLair Alliance are awesome... yes I said awesome.
From the goblins to the knights, from the pirates to the governors,
from the crafters to the adventurers ... our Alliance is strong.
Weekly events, daily interaction, new player support,
and camaraderie are among all.
This is why our Alliance has lasted for over a decade as well.
People have come together with respect
and are motivated by working together.

We have a strong sense of loyalty
to this Realm and our PaxLair.
After all, we've been here 18 years
and will for another 18 and longer.
The way we approach things here must be working too --
We've outlasted many other towns and guilds.
Why do we outlast them?
... because we are patient and expect the unexpected.
We also have great people and leaders who care about others.
And we know things will not always be smooth sailing.
When they are not, we help each other 100%.
Why are we still here?
... because of our people, our friends,
and our commitment to each other and this Realm.
We also want to see what's in store for the next update,
the next monster, and the next quest.
We know this Realm has no bound
because imaginations are unbounded here.

As I said last year, our cities, our guilds,
and our alliance are some of the most trusted around.
That's a good reputation to have
and one worth nurturing and preserving.
Trust is the foundation for us all and our PaxLair.

Thank you everyone for a grand 18th year of PaxLair.
We've come a long way!

Also, congratulations to Ivory Darkmoon! Our new Mayor of Nidaros. Below is the ceremonial speech and oath:

I will be giving a speech in a few moments,
yet I have a wonderful ceremony to conduct first:...
The appointment of one of our City Mayors within our Statehood.
It is not very often we have a change in leadership of one of our cities.
Nidaros will have a new Mayor tonight, taking over for Maehdros!

Ivory Darkmoon is no stranger to us of course.
She has been in The Protectors of Nidaros for a long time.
As such, she knows Nidaros history, its culture and its role in our Statehood.
She demonstrates superb abilities to lead and inspire people.
I am extremely pleased to give my highest confidence
to Ivory Darkmoon to be the Mayor of Nidaros.

Ivory Darkmoon, please face me.

Ivory Darkmoon, I will issue an oath now like none other you have taken before.
For this oath will place upon you very high levels of
responsibility and accountability,
to Nidaros, PaxLair, and the entire Realm.
Are you ready?

Do you swear fealty unto me, the Governor of the PaxLair Statehood and
to lead Nidaros with all its riches and treasures
of people, citizens, friends, and allies
to bring forth within this Realm
the camaraderie and spirit that is truly in the nature
of Nidaros and PaxLair Statehood to the best of all your abilities?

Very well, then by the power vested in me
as the Governor of PaxLair and
with the Power of the Ancients,

Mayor Ivory Darkmoon then turned, faced the audience, and issued her 17-point plan to bring prosperity to Nidaros... just kidding ... she told us how pleased she was and that she would work hard to serve Nidaros and its citizens.
