Why didn't it get into UO? I'm not a real wiz on UO history, so I figured I'd ask here...la

Follow the road south from Brit to Trinsic... 4 small shacks forming a square off of the east side of the road... That's all that made it into UO.

Yeah I've always considered those small shacks to be Paws even if it wasn't official...

LOL, Paws was basically a shantytown outside of Britain (which was a relatively rich city). Wooden houses, not a lot of masonry, lots of rogues.

In the Main Ultima Games Paws was a small town south of Britain. It was never officially included into UO.

As it was explained many years ago, Ultima Online and the single-player Ultima games do not have much of a shared history, other than the shattering of the Gem, which created the different shards/multi-verses of Sosaria for Ultima Online. The two virtual worlds share a mutual beginning, but nothing else. After the shattering of the Gem of Immortality, each UO shard takes it's own unique path, based upon the developers (game design/changes), the players, Seers and EMs, so NO Paws, unless the players/developers/Seers/EMs created it.

The history of Ultima Online should have been explained when UO was being developed/created, because a lot of Ultima players were confused/lost when UO went live. The lack of history between the Ultima single-player games, and Ultima Online, caused a lot of distress to many of the die-hard fans of the single player Ultimas. Many of them quit Ultima Online, when they discovered that UO was NOT Ultima, with it's rich and unique history.

Now instead of creating all of these new lands...a city like Paws could have been added. It's not like there is a lot of player housing, so a town, maybe without guards could have been created instead of some of the other stuff that has been created over the years.

To me, the devs try way to hard. We would be thrilled for them to develop the existing land better, as opposed to new lands with just a few more locations for players to farm or place a neato new home...la

Actually, I believe there was a GM-created, player-run town of Paws on Pacific, many-many moons ago. Fountain and flowers and everything, long before any of these items were available to players. Of course, my memory may be wonked, but I do recall it.
Don't know if it's still there; I haven't played on Pacific in eight years or more!

Yes its still there. Large house w/ patio, and there used to be a tower North of there.. but it fell years ago.

On Pacific, go to the brit gate/fel, and walk north-west until you run into the first NPC farmer house. Right next door =). The fountain, a small pond, some rocks, and a few plants remain from.. *thinks* 1998-99 was whem Paws was really active.

You know, it makes me oddly happy to know that it's still there. Thanks!

Paws was a part of the original plotline. Crawworth was the last survivor of Paws, and it was destroyed by orcs when he was a child. There are ruins in the swamps north of Trinsic, and that is speculated to be the true location of Paws.

I give EA kudos for, uh, maintaining the rich and fantastic lore of this game so well that not one other player has so far posted this. The few that know it and still remain don't even bother coming here very often anymore.

Funny.....I never once made the connection between either those ruins OR the shacks on the beach and Paws.

Oh well....UO Guide update.
