[Fishing] Paint for my Brittania Ship

Not long after the High Seas expansion came along, I purchased a Brittania Ship. To the best of my memory I did not purchase the Captain's Bundle which includes paint, just the ship. My question is: Do I really have to purchase another Brittania Ship (which is part of the Captain's Bundle) or can the paint be purchased or acquired separately?

Thx....

You can still use the paints purchased in-game on the fish-dock - but I believe that the special colors sold with the Captain's Bundle are only available with that package.

Thx for that Tazar.... If I use one of the paints that I can buy "in-game" on the fish dock, would I be able to "paint-over" that paint if I decided that I really wanted one of the colors in the Captain's Bundle?

Others might have a more accurate answer, but I know that when I put one coat of what I thought would be a rust color purchased at the doc and it was actually pink (WAY too girly for a fishing vessel), I bought another color at the doc and was able to change it that way. Worked fine for me.

Yes. You can use the paints in game and later repaint either with a paint from in-game or from the bundle. The catch is (isn't there always one?) that the paints from in-game are ones that you put on several coats of paint with each coat making it a darker richer color - and then over time the paint fades so you have to regularly refresh the paint by adding a new coat.

The paints from the captain's bundle never fade - but you can paint over them again in the future if you like to.

If you want the rust - just add a few more coats of paint and it will darken up.

I finally figured that out after I decided to go with dark gray. At the time, I didn't have the gold for more than one coat of anything. I was so embarrassed by the pink ship, I made sure she was hidden from sight until I could afford to change it. Fishing up a few MOBs took care of that.

I kind of like it that the color fades over time. More realistic that way.

Thx for all those comments.... Gonna check out the in-game paints first... Don't really want to spend $17 right now on a 2nd Brittania Ship just to get the paint...

Does this help?

I don't know about Startle, but it helped me some. The Britannian ships look a bit different than the Tokuno ships but it does give an idea of what the various colors tend to look like. It's how I found out that the grayish tub made that nice dark gray color after applying 5 coats.

I totally agree. I had a dragon ship a gazillion years ago but never really got into it. When I looked into coming back earlier this year, one of the first things I did was get High Seas and that ship. Our world's creater mentioned in a recent interview that there are people who LOVE to grind away doing tasks like mining for ore, fishing, sewing, etc. and that's really ALL they like to do. The beauty is that we can. :)

Enjoy that ship, Startle. And just as soon as I get over being P.O.ed about mine vanishing, you might see Rienna's Sanity II out there in the open seas!

Well you see, I tend to get distracted from time to time when a shiney new "toy" comes out and I don't visit Britannia as often as I should sometimes. I had about 8 million stones of fish in the hold so I couldn't deed it. I hadn't checked on it in what was probabably 15 or 16 days. Rienna logged in, clicked on her ship rune - no ship.

In case you ever run into this again - remember that the ship hold acts like a bank box and lets you use commodity deeds in it... You could move them all in one trip that way.

Man, I never knew that. I tried to use commodity deed box and chest of sending and nadda. I always had to lug all the fish out with packies and blue bugs. ughhh... Thanks for the knowledge, save ALOT of trips there :)

And this is why you are the WISE Drunken Elder.

Next time you see Rienna heading out with a fishing pole, ask her what the heck she is doing before she does something else stupid. :wall:
