This has absolutely nothing to do with Ultima Online.

However, in small town North Carolina where I live very few people have any knowledge of poker, much less the World Poker Tour or the World Series of Poker. I'm dying with excitement, and desperately want to tell SOMEONE my good news. I'm a writer, full time for a newspaper, but occasionally for a freelance magazine. I've been picked to cover the World Poker Tour and do the media coverage for the Main Event for a national magazine. I'm sitting in an internet cafe, and have literally no one to call and tell because none of my friends play poker, and even my dear wonderful mother doesn't have any idea what meeting Daniel Negreanu or Scotty Nguyen means, or what spending the morning on the phone with Johnny Quads Wenzel means to me.

I'm hoping someone out there can share my excitement. And if, by chance, someone out there in UO World is a Poker fan and wants something signed, or a picture, just say the word! I'll be in Atlantic City the last part of Jan, and onward to Tunica and Vegas from there (Assuming all goes well).

Very nice gig you have going there. I consider myself an avid poker player. By no means do I play as a proffessionall but I play on average 2-3 times a week and consider myself to be a very solid player. One of the casinos in downtown Detroit not far from me has satelite tourneys for the WPT. I dont play in the casinos all that often but do maybe a few times a year. Where I live there are alot of local games I can find on any given day so i play alot of those. I will be going to Vegas in early Febuary and plan on playing tourneys for the majority of my gambling there. The big televised tourneys are usually a 10k buy in so I definately wouldnt mind finding a nice satelite to try to win a buy in for a major tourney. Im my mind No limit holdem is the greatest card game out there and is poker in its most pure form. You have a great thing going if your going to have trips paid for you to go to Vegas. Ive been to Atlantic City but I think its nothing more than a dirty run down town with a bunch of casinos stacked next to each other.

Would you happen to need the services of a pro photographer/videographer. It would be a nice change from my usual subject matter. I have loads of vacation time so will work for free trip to vegas

Congrats on the job first of all. Not knowing who the players are unless the card sharks have been on the circuit is not uncomon. I occasionally attend the world series of poker in vegas as I have an Uncle who is in the convention buisiness and he organizes the events here. Usually in vegas theres more than 200 players who start out. Radio stations and TV hosts give away entries for the event in the first round, as a promotional thing. The events hosted here at the Palms casino are much more entertaining. It brings in celebs and High rollers for the week. Depending on your budget when you come to vegas, your better off staying away from the strip resorts, and go with a 4 star hotel neaby. Places like the Venetian and Mirage can cost upwards of 500 bucks a night. 500 bucks can mean the difference between playing penny slots and craps.( you dont win much by playing pennies). When you get closer to the event, sendme a Pm and I can tell you a few of the better sightseeing events or grand canyon tours. if its strip clubs or dance halls your after *coughs* I never been there so dont ask

Now that's some real exciting news! Heck, I don't even know you and I'm happy for you. My husband watches it every once in awhile on television, so we've heard of a couple of those guys. Hey, how about the poker player that was on Survivor, Jean-Robert? Will he be there too? Never saw him play poker, but hated him on Survivor...lol Scotty is kind of crazy too with his Sinatra-like affectations.
