Who would run Norton?
[/ QUOTE ]
Someone who apparently doesn't understand the terms "system resources" and "useless background processes"

Or someone who does, but realizes on newer computers the load doesn't pose a significant problem and would rather not spend all their "off" time providing free support to family members & friends in home IT security.

Couldn't agree more. We use Norton AV Corporate Edition. Not because we like 50 to 80 MB of RAM dedicated to a real-time scanner. Not because we like the crappy things Symantec does sometimes. Not at all. We use it because in the last 9 years we have only have one virus attack, which occurred when some outside vendor plugged into our LAN, and it was over in seconds because we had a comprehensive and easy to manage anti-virus solution in place. We use it because it has an excellent central management console to let us install NAV remotely to hundreds or thousands of PCs with the push of a button, while also allowing very good management of existing systems. We use it because it is the market leader and it is what works the best for what we need. Are there other apps that beat it in one way or another? Yes, of course there are. However, overall NAV does what we want, and at a fair price. That is worth a LOT when you have a zillion other things to occupy your day, and the AV solution really should not be something you need to constantly worry about. There are places to save money, but it isn't in areas where you sacrifice cost for data security and integrity. Not if you actually want to stay in business long-term that is.
