Origin store working?

Is anyone else having problems with the Origin store?

I've been trying to buy a gametime code and it just keeps failing.

Tried with PayPal (which worked fine only last week) and then with my VISA card.

Same message "Your order could not be completed. Try again later."

Anyone else tried recently? First time I've ever had troubles buying gametime.

I bought 2 30 day codes like 4 hours ago. Used EA cash cards and bought a single code per transaction, no problems at all.

You can buy 20 and 50 dollar pre-paid cards from outlets like Gamestop, then use them on the EA site to make item purchases. No tax on the gamecards, but EA hits you with taxes once you make a purchase from them...la

Thank you for posting about this. I had problems on Friday, attempting to buy a transfer code. Tried 3 times and gave up. I did get 3 $1.00 charges that eventually "fell off" my card on Monday.

Sounds like it is operating normally to me...

I had no problems buying a game time code yesterday. But even after modifying the code I was given to the standard 6-5-5-5-5 format, I still receive a "this code has already been used" message on my account management page. Frustrating, and I have an open ticket in about it.

It is to my understanding that this issue was fixed. Recent time codes I got via Origin worked without having to do the format change. Try just entering the code direct with no alterations.

I should have mentioned: I only tried changing the code format after trying it as-is and getting the same "this code has already been used" message :-/

Well, I had no problem getting into the store and buying a code but the minute I bought it and got my receipt I went over to the other window and pasted it in to my account and got the 'This Code has already been used' message.

A chat help last night was not useful at all with EA.
I've emailed my ticket in and no luck.

Lets hope this gets sorted before my house falls. It is due to go idoc tomorrow.

Not sure why in the world there are two interfaces for billing. I should be able to log into my account, pay for an item and it is automatically applied. Heck my company makes software to allow you to do this in real time. Why is EA so behind the times? Seriously. Its a complete joke.

If you are going to make a company - the #1 priority for you should be an easy payment system that works. Nothing is worse as a company than advertising, promoting, enhancing a game and when someone is convinced they want to spend money on it - make it hard to take their money. Its so ridiculous its almost funny....if it weren't EA.

Update : Well, an email exchange with support took all day but they finally told me yes code has been used and open a ticket with Origin support and follow this link. So I went there and opened a case. After filling out a bunch of stuff you can have someone 'call you back' so I did. I got a call within 2 minutes. I explained the problem, she says someone in chat applied the code but of course I have 5 accounts on one mythic account and all are still showing inactive. She put me on hold and I'm still on hold 5 minutes later. Typing this while I wait....

Ok, finally she tells me it has been applied to my mythic account and not my game account or some nonsense and they cannot reapply or issue a code and I'd have to contact broadsword support if this happens again. At this point I"m ridiculously confused over EA/Mythic/UO/Broadsword or who to talk to becasuse half of the links to anything UO are broken or send you to the wrong place. Why is it that when I go to www.uo.com the support doesn't send me to the right place?

At any rate she refunded me my $$ and said try it again. I got a receipt with the paypal refund. So I logged in again, bought a new code and it worked. SO...looks like problem solved - provided I actually have a refund when I get my credit card statement this month. I'm a little leery of that part but buying the code the second time worked. I followed the exact same process I did the first time. Odd.

I just tried to purchase one myself, having just gotten the chance to come back after .. a lot of things, and got a "used" code as well. Not sure what to do since I don't trust any customer service operations, mostly due to my playing this game (also Comcast), and reading this thread it seems like it wouldn't be any help anyway.

Suppose i'll send an email to the UO support address since that's all it seems to be able to tell me to do. Guess I should at least be thankful I don't cut my purchases close.

So, after following the ridiculously convoluted origin/EA store support process, I was told to email UO support. I did so on Wednesday. Today I received an email from UO support telling me that indeed the "code had been used", and that I should contact Origin support.

...

So. I guess they're just gonna keep that money and I can go fun myself.

Might not be a bad idea to forward the email receipt from Origin which shows the code, and ask Broadsword to check the account it was used on? After all, you are the one with the receipt.

I had an issue with a time code - came to find out my dyslexia was the culprit. ;)

It's a good idea. I copy/pasted the code and triple-checked it, but it still may be some sort of communication error. I'm finally on a chat with the EA support right now. I'll let y'all know how it goes :p

Friends, I don't do this often, but I'm going to do it now. Do not purchase game time codes from the Origin store. After a tedious 2 hour livechat with Origin support, during which they attempted to A) attach the incorrect code to an incorrect email address, and then B) attach a code to a SWTOR account keyed to the correct email address (when from the beginning, I told them the code was a UO game time code), they stated they cannot create a new code for me nor issue a refund and then referred me BACK to UO support.

Who, if you'll remember, referred me to Origin support in the first place. They claim that ONLY UO support has the ability to help me with a billing and technical support issue.

Where I come from, if one purchases a product from you and that product, due to an error on your part, does not work, and then you refuse to issue a refund, that is called fraud. Or perhaps theft.

This is totally inexcusable.

I agree.

This is just one way they have been promoting free shards for a very long time. Apathy FTW.

Who needs a functioning store anyway. And here I thought everyone loved to chat with customer no-support for hours after every transaction?!

I will have to buy gametime codes next week, so this doesn't bear very well with me either.
The Origin store is already a major mess, and now they are screwing it up further, it seems. *sigh*

And their support just never works. They never solve a problem for you. :/

To be fair, I've never had a problem when just paying with a credit card through the account mgmt page. And UO support has been as responsive and helpful as possible. But sometimes game time is a better option for me.

I've never had problems with other codes either, but this is not the first time I've had an issue with game time. I don't understand how an e-retailer with a system as mystifying (and buggy) as the origin store stays in business, honestly. They had one job, y'know?

@Pignasty - the better avenue now is to send an email direct to Mesanna - [email protected]
Explain the situation and what happened with Origin support in detail.

Especially important if you need the time code applied quickly.

Yeah, just got an email myself directing me back to Origin, even though the only options Origin gave initially was to use that specific support email or the EU equivalent. Not entirely sure what to do since the contents of this post pretty much deem doing what they suggest futile, and I always feel bad contacting Mesanna due to how busy she is.

There are many, many words that would aptly describe this situation, though as it has been years since my last temporary ban for such things i'd rather not ruin my current record with them here.

I emailed UO Billing support one more time explaining the situation. They were very apologetic and conciliatory, but the fault lies squarely with the EA/Origin store. UO support did say to try Origin support one more time (as, despite the tech saying otherwise, I am assured they do in fact have the power to fix the code or issue refund). If that still doesn't work, I was encouraged to forward my chat log to UO support, who will try to find some way to help.

Wow, I just had the same thing happen to me. I bought a 30 day game time code and it says it's already been used. I started a chat with the EA Store and they told me to e-mail UO support as they can't verify anything with their tools. They told me it's like buying a dress or shoes at a store and then having to deal with the manufacturer. I told them if I buy shoes and they don't fit I take them back to the store I purchased them from and get another pair or a refund. This is all incredibly annoying.

I wonder if I can dispute the charges...

Dispute the charges at the risk of having your master account banned.

Speaking from experience here. I fought and successfully got unbanned, but yeah...prolly two years ago now I had a charge clear my bank, got a notice from EA that the card failed and had no time charged to any of my accounts. Went round and round, even provided proof that I had a charge that cleared my bank and they still wouldnt' credit my account and I was told to just "dispute the charges with my bank there was nothing further they could do."

Disputed charges got it reversed. Couldn't log into my master account shortly after that. Couldn't activate two deactivated accounts due to their billing errors but the third kept billing (so I assumed I wasn't banned). Went round and round between Origin and EA before they let me know I had been banned and why and how to dispute it.

They've ticked me off more recently by billing my accounts early then canceling a good subscription when the credit card is denied.

I finally got some resolution today. After a second livechat with Origin support, they're issuing me a refund.

IMPORTANT: Apparently game time codes purchased from the Origin store are no longer transferrable, you have to purchase the code with an Origin account that matches the UO account you want to apply the code to. At least that is what I was told by their support tech. That is apparently what caused the problem with my code having been "already used".

?!?
Non transferable?

So, people can no longer buy a code for their friends and family as birthday presents or what not???

I suppose I could just buy an EA card from Wallyworld and send that to my sons. o_O

sorta ot - my grandson has been "playing" on his father's account... boggles the mind... that would be 3 generations of UO players in my family.... so... more EA Game Cards for them.

I don't know that it's true, but that's what the tech told me caused the problem. I purchased the code with an Origin account that doesn't have a corresponding UO account, so I don't know how the code was applied to it, but that's what they're saying. I was told to purchase future codes with the Origin account associated with the UO account I wanted to apply it to. Dumb dumb dumb

Yah, this is what I would be worried about in disputing the charges.

This can't be right. My code was purchased with the same master account name and password as my account management account and it still rejected it. I've also been applying game time codes to other master accounts without any problems.

I buy game time codes and save them for when I need them. Now I'm worried that they won't work when I go to apply them.

Decided to go through with the chat, and I was given a refund for the purchase and told to try to make it again, and that it was likely a server issue (as well as being told to go back to Broadsword support with it if the problem persists). Rather certain that is not the case given other answers in here, but I suppose i'll try (purchasing) again tomorrow. One bout of support-induced stress is enough for me for one day.

When you apply the time code in the "Mythic Account Managment site", you actually choose the account you want the code to go to in the drop-down menu.
upload_2015-3-30_14-26-28.png

Basically both Origin and Broadsword know what accounts are tied together. I hope the new web interface from Broadsword takes care of a lot of this confusion...

Right.

But they're telling you to purchase the codes, and I quote "you have to purchase the code with an Origin account that matches the UO account you want to apply the code to."

My Origin account is the same email account as my EA Master Account. I have 3 UO accounts tied to that. If it's auto applying the gametime codes (which is what it sounds like) how do they know which account to apply it to?

It would be a lot simpler if they would let us purchase for accounts through the account system instead of a totally separate yet linked system.

I believe Mesanna said they are working on that.

I do not think the codes are "auto-applied" as I still had to copy the code into the mythic interface. I believe there is a sort of authentication process though to make sure the code you are applying was issued to the EA/Mythic account associated to both Origin Store and the Mythic account page.

At least that's what makes sense to my ecommerce programming knowledge.

From what I was reading above, it looked like Theo's and someone elses gametime was applied to their Origin/Master account, not their UO accounts which is why it's registering as used. It sounds like something goofed.
