Ophidian event - loyalty change

Ok, so I made the mistake of making both of my characters for the same side...

Now I have -15000 for the ophidians, and I'm working on killing the Bane's to change my loyalty.

Question is: I'm killing the Bane's and my Ophidian loyalty isn't moving from the -15,000?

Has anyone else tried to do this and had the same problem, or when will it start to move? Once I'm at -15,000 for the Bane?

It might be that you have over -15000. It will be better to start with a new guy then changing side.
