Gonna try to stay on topic and only semi negative on this.

But I have to say, I am not impressed, in the least. Killing BR Golems. Yeah, was fun once, then WTH, who cares? Town invasions? Been there, done that (repeatedly).

Town Invasions, turned on too soon. The rest of teh story arc wasn't ready, so it is rinse and repeat. We fought madly at the start, saving towns, of course Cove fell, but only it. Oooops! They're invading again!
Now we are losing towns, because very very few people care to defend them, it's like, "bleh, what;s the use? They'll be back in a few days anyway, beating the invaders doesn't accomplish anything"

Seems like it's just busy work, tossed out there to occupy the masses, "ooh look! this one has a new shiney!" and lure us into not noticing the rut we are in.

Same thing with Golems...a mage and a GD spend 20-30 mins to killl one, to get a piece of armor with no resists on it. Over and over... Busy work, you just stand in one place all night and heal and ev. *shakes head* not entertainment, not for me anyway...if I wanted busy work to entertain me, I would go back and play some of the old PS3 games for the 20th time.

There has got to be a way to run a storyline, somehow, without the need to introduce mobs with a gazillion hit points, en masse, who's only draw to kill them is a special piece of armor or weapon. *sighs* that should be a fringe benefit, not the goal.

Give us a clue at the start..have us look for them, use some of the forgotten or never used caves, caverns, and spots in the world to spread us out, have a clue take us to Buc's tunnels, when we get there we have to fight our way thru 50 demons and ogre lords, but we find a chest that we can click and a book appears in our pack with a short story and a clue about where our next stop should be. Those kinda things. Use the NPCs in it, a clue could send us to see an NPC in Glow at the chocolate tubs, but he wants 10 of any chocolate ingredient off of paragons before he will speak to any of us and send us on our way.

But please, quit just spawning endless monsters and saying "there kids, have at it"

I stopped participating in the Town Invasions recently after the 4th time we "Saved" a town only to have it and just about every other town taken over by the Virtuebane forces.

It doesn't appear there is a way to "Take a Town Back" that I have seen, either. We tried very hard in Moonglow to clear all guards out, but there seems to be no "Victory Conditions" for such actions or goals.

So...I could not agree more. The story arc is way too drawn out, not nearly enough chances to "Save" anything, and is just "Your towns are being invaded" ad infinitum.

Fun at first...really really boring after the third or sixth month.

While it's clear that they have executed much of this storyline poorly, I do have to point out that every invasion Britannia's ever suffered has been subjected to nearly-identical criticisms. And indeed every non-invasion storyline as well. (I agree that the next storyline can't be an invasion. It has to be more like the Solen storyline; basically a quest that gradually reveals new, permanent content. Maybe leading into the next booster.)

The issue isn't so much that invasions are boring and have been done. Everything has been done and everything is boring when you're in the frame of mind to be bored.

Rather, it's that the storyline has been unclear, and not enough players are aware of the meaning of what's been going on. An exception has been Great Lakes, because, of the great work of our Event Moderators, which has in-turn inspired the players.

If the storyline were as clear game-wide as it is on GL I doubt we'd be complaining as much. As it is now, there was enough confusion that I felt compelled to do this thread, an FAQ on the story arc.

The lack of clarity is a shame, because in outline this story arc isn't bad by any means. It's the execution that's muddied things, to be rescued in part, on Great Lakes at least, by the Event Moderators.
