I was web-surfing today looking for a t-shirt for a friend.

I was browsing HotTopic's website and saw World of Warcraft. I was, what Warcraft tees? No way!!! Yes, way!!!!

So I got to thinking why don't we make and sell some UO T-shirts!!!
See if EAMythic would go along with some groovy UO merchandise!

The cool part is people will see your UO shirt when you are out and about. It has the potential to bring in new players.

I mean think about it for a minute: you're stand in line at the Wal-mart and someone sees your groovy UO t-shirt. Hey! what's UO they ask? Its only the oldest and best MMORPG ever you reply! Heck before there was WoW, Everquest, EVE, Aoin, Conan, Warhammer, etc, etc there was Ultima Online!
Trust me by the time you finish pumpin' up UO they'll wanna try it!

So I think it would be just so cool to promote my favorite game and bring in new player too....Don't you think so too?

If you have something construtive to add please feel free to reply. However if you only wish to bash, troll, verbally abuse me or whatever then please note that I will hunt you down on your shard and PK YOU INTO NOTHINGNESS!

I discovered that when I went to buy some UO goodies.

*SIGH* one would think that EAMythic doesn't want to promote our beloved game.

Actually my sis and I were talking about the iron on transfers you can print on using your computer printer. Taking those and making our own UO Shirts with our favorite Char on it and maybe the UO Logo.

I just had a cute idea: t-shirt with a char on named Barton and the slogan "On UO Shards Eveywhere!" or something like that.

I got a million ideas just bouncing around in my head.. i could sooooo run with this!!!

WOW and UO are not comparable. T shirts in walmart (that I really don't know why walmart would even want to stock since there are probably less than 60k people in the US playing...) will elicit more "What the hell is this?" than "Hey cool UO! Lets go get a game box...oh wait."

UO is what it is (which isn't bad), and what it is is not a popular computing and pop culture icon. Its the same reason there is a WoW movie in the work and the idea of a UO one is laughable.

I play on siege if you wanna come pk into oblivion.

p.s. you can make your own UO shirt if you really want one, on zazzle or something of course.

Joking apart, nice idea. As neither EA or Mythic seem to be selling UO merchandise directly, perhaps someone who is willing to produce items, might seek permission from EA, for the rights to sell UO related products, obviously with some commission payment to them involved...

...given they've happily sold rights to produce a "new UO" to NetDragon for the Asian MMO market, they might welcome any opportunity to cash in on the "brand".

They might even sell you their grandmothers if you asked politely enough.

I wasn't talking about walmart selling the t-shirts. I was talking about wearing your UO t-shirt to wal-mart and people noticing it.

It would be easier to make a good movie from the lore of ultima than it would be for WoW. Ultima has 20+ years of storyline. It's not hard when you have that much history.

No doubt, but the sad fact is 10 million players for viewers + massive brand recognition vs... under 100k and recognition only computer gamers from 20 or more years ago.

It wouldn't be a wise investment.

WoW has over a decade of very strictly controlled lore that makes sense. Ultima (especially UO) has a mess of lore that has been revamped and messed up repeatedly over time. Heck I bet that 80+% of the UO population doesn't even know a fraction of the UO/Ultima lore.

I played since Ultima 2&3, but seriously, UO lore is somewhat messed up and not even the devs really have track of anything and most things in game doesn't even have lore.

Now that I see they no longer offer UO merchandise - I can understand that they probably sent what was still available.

I greatly enjoy wearing my UO shirt (hmm, I guess i could be one of the 'PeopleOfWalmart') out and about.

I'm not so sure of the potential to bring in new players, but it has worked, for me, to start discussions with strangers about UO.

Once a guy working behind the counter at a Cofee Shop says - "hey, Isn't that an Ultima shirt?"
Me - "Why Yes, yes it is!"
Guy behind counter - "Is that thing still on?"
Me - "uh, yeah - i still play all the time"
Guy behind counter - "Oh - its so old"
Me - "D'Oh!"


and another time, at a local County Fair -

While looking at an Educational animal exhibit, a girl gives me a double glance and excitedly asks - "Hi, Is that an Ultima Shirt?"
Me - "Yes!"
Girl - "That is so cool, I thought it was"
Me - "Awesome, I love Ultima"
The, brief, conversation turned to - what shard do you play, how long, do you like SA, etc.
I left with a big grin, happy to have met a fellow traveler.

Yes even if they dont do it themselves anymore they will not hesatate to bring out their lawyers to take you to the cleaners I miss the old days of geting stuff and seeing my game promoted. Thank you you proved my point that wearing UO merchandising will get people talking about UO!

Okay so one of you expirences wasn't the most positive, but thats okay.

Next, time turn it around!! UO is so old.

You could say yeah but we have lot of new content, or you could say yeah but you don't need a mega expensive high powered gaming computer to play UO. Heck, you can play it on a netbook!

(I haven't actually verified that for myself. Someone told me they were playing UO on a netbook.)

I feel like I should clarify that last bit on my post. It is not aimed at the 99.9% of people that post on uhall. Its aimed at the .1% that cannot post like civil people.

After a run in with a particular nasty,vile, rancid and down right odious troll.
(For further info on run in with Mega-troll pm me.) My new stance is this: I will not talk to, acknowledge, or respond to the troll in any fashion.

If the mods ignore my reports, then I will simply hunt the troll down on his or her shard, and pk them till they cry "UNCLE". Then I shall pk them a few times more.

last time I checked there is NO Stratics rule that says I can't buy transfer tokens and shard hop hunting trolls! The way I see it EAMythic will definatly benefit!

So please for goodness don't think I'm targeting anyone in particular because the majority of people can and do post civilly.

Hmmm. Very good point there. I wonder who I need to talk to at EA or EAMythic. I certainly don't wanna get sued outta exsistance. LOL

They probably have like a whole platoon of corporate lawyers. Its my understanding that if one were comparing Lawyers to predatory fish corporate lawyers are either Great White Sharks or a big ole school of piranha.
