Old Vet considering a return

Greetings!

It's been ages since I played UO (played from 1999-2005) and I know a lot of things have changed. I remember having loads of fun with UO with my tamer, pvp mage, and crafter, and it seems no other game on the market quite fills the void UO left.

I am considering coming back, and starting a fresh account (to learn the ropes and to appreciate what I've earned, that and I dont have the old account info anymore). What shard is most active? I want to be able to log in and see at least a few people online to game with. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ahoy and welcome (back) aboard.

You may want to look through the shard forums to get an idea of the populations and community.

Atlantic is probably the most active, but if you should choose Pacific, let me know. I'll do what I can to get you settled in and introduce you to my alliance. Also, you could call customer service and get your old account info. They're pretty good about finding it. If you'd rather start a new account, that's cool too!

I have just returned too. You are right, when I left UO around 2007, there was a void that never got filled. I think mainly having my own house with my own vendors was one of them. Sure I can have a house on LOTRO, but it is pretty limited. I have played other MMO's but nothing compares to UO. There are some good ones out there, even the F2P ones, but I don't mind paying for UO again. It actually just takes the place of another MMO that I payed for and didn't play.

I did try to make my way back a few years ago, when I found out that Stygian Abyss actually came out and they redid the enhanced client and got rid of KR. I wanted to check it out. So I made a new account and jumped in, and actually liked what I saw, I didn't purchase the expansion though. I only payed for a month and didn't stick with it, mostly due to finances, paying for another MMO, and was busy with rl. Plus it was in November around the holidays. Now I have a bit more free time, and it fills my boredom.

I miss my old account sometimes and took a lot of stuff for granted (like all the skills I had GM'ed), but starting over is cool. Makes me feel like I am playing the game for the first time again, but with knowledge of it.

In regards to your account, if you provide suffient information you can get it back if you wish without a problem, EA is pretty good with that.

I got my password back without a problem since the registered email was no longer available for me.
