Recently got two of these and I read that you need to not put them in the bank or separate backpack as they will turn into a house placement tool. Does that mean you can't shard transfer them either?

That is correct, they can't be transferred. They will also convert to a house placement tool if you attempt to use it, if you put it in the bank, and possibly also if it is in your backpack and you log out.

i accidently put it in my bank and logged out but it was still a deed so got lucky there.. guess i will try to sell on the shard then
