Old bounty system.

I know this was removed for reasons... I believe to get a lower rating.

Can we bring it back? Dismemberment??

Maybe 10% of the bounty gets eaten up (gold sink)

I know bottom of the barrel of fixes and updates but the code is around... Already written.

What do you think?

Of course change the new heads to another name to keep rare value.

It was originally removed so they could drop the rating from M to T, another reason they removed it was that many reds were kind of abusing the system towards the end, I don't remember the specefics but they were making an insane amount of gold just killing their friends and guildmates over and over, then splitting the money.

I would love for this system to be brought back, it was one of the coolest things the game has ever created. it seems like they would have to raise the rating back to M again though, which the developers may not want to do.

I don't know. Many movies shoot for an R rating to get more viewers. I think it's a bigger deal when buying the box off the shelf (like Walmart) than it is in the new digital format. I doubt that rating really means much these days.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't just ratings. It was whole countries that would not allow UO there with that feature in the game. I am not sure, but I seem to recall that Germany was one of them.

It was for anti-cannibalism laws, and I seem to remember that Germany was specifically cited.

Instead of just removing the ability to create people jerky, they yanked the whole corpse mutilation ability.

A bounty system could be easily reimplemented, just create named marks that are acquired from the slain person which could be turned in.

Tazar is correct.
Most of Europe was anti- dismemberment.
The whole thought to them was disturbing... Hence EA having the dev remove it from the game. And it got the T rating.
I will of course admit to having a head on a honored spot in my first castle.
Lord Dustmonger was a much loved piece of my decor...(by the way if anyone has his head I want it back! He was Head Napped!!)
A few years back for Holloween you could get unnamed parts of yourself that were poofed apart in the trick or treet bit... but that is as far as it has ever come back to being allowed.
