Last night I made the first steps in my quest to solo dread horn, I went with 3 of my friends who played tamers and I tanked.

My template is currently not ready and my gear needs work still, but i noticed a few things and wanted to ask about them..

I noticed that my mana would sometimes be drained to 0 stopping me casting chiv spells. How do you get round this when your there by yourself? I had my mana drained at times couldn't cast concecrete weap and sometimes EoO which caused significant problems because my damage output dropped and leeches wernn't keeping me alive, so i had to rely on the odd cure an heal from my friends? Without taking magic resist I cant see how this is avoidable?

My next question is regarding damage. Very erratic to say the least. With EoO cast i was doing varying levels of damage which didn't seem to be in accordance with the 10 levels of perfection. Sometimes i would be at full perfection and achieve 45-55 damage per swing then sometimes i would be up at 70s each swing then other times higher than this. Of course you land the odd critical strike as well which does mega damage but this is every so often and not supposed to be consistant.. Anyone else experience this or offer tips on damage output and keeping it consistantly high? I had consecrete and eoo up all the time along with high perfection and lightening strike?

Sometimes my stamina would take a hit and my swing speed would slow down. Since im using a two hander, pots were not an option. Or are they? I did use divine fury when i could to get my stamina up when it was really low but found that this meant i was getting hit alot more and getting me into trouble because my DCI is only sitting at 45 currently.

All in all I really enjoyed the first experience of it and out of three dreads didn't die once and put some serious hurt on him each time

Any hints/tips/thoughts/musings/suggestions accepted greatfully...

It sounds like one of your friends brought a rune beetle. You had your base damage, your damage when dread horn was under armor corrosion and your perfection/critical strike damage.

Heavy Ornate Axe. I solo dreadhorn, no beetle. As far as switching weapons for drinking potions, there is an arm last weapon macro on UO Interface which is pretty quick. 210 may not be an exact number, it may be a little more, or a little less, I'll pay more attention next time, the heavy ornate axe has 47% DI on it, I don't know how to work out the formula's to find out the max damage it will do with all the DI I have on my suit, weapons, EoO, consecrate and perfection, I do however love it when I have a counter attack go off with a high damage hit x2.

DHs lowest resists is Physical. If your weapon is 100% physical damage, you dont need to use up mana casting consecrate weapon.

Ideally you have high tactics and anatomy (90+). The higher they are the more damage you do. Also important is to max out your dam increase to 100% if you can using rings, stormgrips, ornate crown of the harrower, primer etc.

I really need to get my tactics up at the moment as it is still down at about 40 after me taking my 110 off to fit necro.

I figure i can get my tactics to about 70 just now and 90 if i can get a hold of midnight bracers..

I think if i can find some good dmg increase jewels with DCI and the right resists, i can fit my stormgrips into the equasion and then that will take my total damage increase to 75%

I am using mace and shield so i cant get the ornate crown but hopefully 75% should be good enough once i get my tactics sorted out and stuff..

Try to get weapons with good DI on them too to bring your total up closer to 100.

Most of us keep our necro at 30-40 and just use items to boost it up to 100 for VE. From the sounds of it, you're keeping the skill at 100? So unless you're keeping SS also, there's no point for it to be that high.

If you have HLD on your weapon, you dont need mace and shield glasses.

Something like brightsight lenses high fire resists, or ancient samurai helm with 15 dci can make it easier to build a great suit.

My necro is about 56 at the moment. I am using +5 tali, jewels and osian grimoir to get VE.

Once i get midnight bracers i can drop it down lower. Just need to begin getting my tactics in order
