Ok...where do I dig?

Where the pin goes IN or the red dot on the pin?

I've been digging all over ocarina island for like an hour, with 100 mining, and I cannot find this goddamn thing.

Any tips?

About half a screen east of where the pin goes in might do the trick.

I ran into the same problem the second map I tried. The pin was by two landmarks on the map, the CC screen, it's map, uoam, the EC screen, and it's map. Went through in a search pattern twice, checking three spaces away, all 4 cardinal directions, every three steps, with GM mining. In a grid extending past the landmarks. All I succedded in doing was irritating my hands, wrists, and arms from all the mousing and clicking.

The chest I went after first I found by a landmark in 30 seconds. The only things I carried away from it ( a L1) was the gold, regeants, gems, and one bracelet with three things on it with very low numbers.

I sold my 220 maps in the evening. Thunting is now a masochistic experience for anyone with arthritis.

I just wish that the treasure maps were at least the same angle as the in game map. Oh and like...75% less crap in the chest heh.

That would be a nice change. Nine items instead of 37 and at least one of them what an average player of the skill to fight the guardians would consider a decent piece of gear for one of his characters.

Even a mongbat wouldn't have been caught dead carrying one of the items in the first chest I did. :lol:

Randalin still hasn't shown Krengore that bracelet he kept from the chest. rolleyes:

Check Petra's guide on stratics or treasure map posts on both uoforums and stratics for an exact location to dig based on the pins on maps.

I've surprisingly not had to many problems. I remember reading on the Thunter board about it being one to the right and four down from the red dot.

Obviously that is zoomed in but I don't do that everytime.

Instead I get UO Cartographer map program to go to about 50% and compare the ingame map with that map.

I usually stand a bit to the right and below the red dot. With mining so far its not taken me long to find the chests.

Only tricky ones are areas that are very generic and plain.

I dont know how these things generate loot, but if its just a random 1-5 roll for properties, then 1-100 roll for intensities, I think something has gone awry, cause theres a TON of realllly low intensities.

Oughta just have ties of loot per level, and have it be like runic hammer rolls, with level six getting 0-2 rolls on a high end hammer level, and some rolls on lower hammer levels as well, then so on down the levels of chest.

The 50 items in the box is waaay overboard. And while they are at it, more regular gems. Like 3 stacks of 10-20 at least.

Although it seems unlikely this is gonna change since it just changed. Oh well.

In order to find out whether the new maps are really random at 100% or whether a new, limited and finite set of spawn locations have been added to the previous ones, perhaps a new Cartography mapping project could be of help ?

Like a place were players can integrate a database with their findings and upload their Map and the in-game coordinates of where the chest was digged up.

Eventually, players might be able to find out whether the new locations are limited (and therefore a new rune library can be made for them) or they are really random and spawnable anywhere in the world.

Perhaps the UO Fishing and Treasure Hunting Stratics' Forum could be a good place to get together and coordinate efforts ?

Good Luck finding your chest, hope it's all worth it, if you do. This is exactly the reason I dropped cart skill, of which I've enjoyed for Years. But even if they add the coords back in, I won't be returning. Guess I'll try an archer next.

My guess is this is similar to the situation with pins in the map in the EC map. They aren't exact.

Without mining, I've found the newly generated random locations to be impossible to dig up. Maybe there should be some kind of compass or something that can assist in locating the t-maps, seeing as the point shown on the maps are never accurate. And the "plot course" function is absolutely useless.

For me it's perfectly reasonable that you should need a supplemental skill to find the chests. I would like it to be something like an "Archeology" skill, but in lieu of that, mining will do.

some of the new spots are the worst! I think it would be helpful if you could scroll in & out on the T-map it self, that would probably help with locating them.

The one thing I do like is that you have to kill all the first spawn before you can open it. That will save on people leaving there spawn all over.
I don't like the idea that the spawn goes back to the chest if you get to far away with it. Makes it hard to kill the higher end monsters. I usually get them away from the chest and kill them one at a time.

We even tried circle of trans to try to help out. We had all the skills, don't even ask what happens around, under a tree or rock :( Let's just say there needs to be a few fixes yet. Guess test center gave too many false positive results to release with this many issues.

Hope you remember how to dig....
Double click your shovel or pick, then click on the deciphered map. this will give you a crosshair cursor to click on the ground.

I just spent 30 minutes digging all around what I thought was a level 3 spot, GM mining....totally pointless. Im soooo glad I waited for this change...*goes off to sell maps*.:sad3:

I've dug up two maps so far. I found both without much trouble at all, took me maybe five minutes of digging for each.

Some are easier than others to me. Ive been trying to do the old spots without just gating right to it for practice. Some hits, some misses.

I recorded a uoa macro.
I doubleclicked shovel, target map, target ground just in front of the char.

Reset 2nd target to 'target relative' and tie to a hot key. Each new map you do 'reset target' on the first 'target' and walk along one tile at a time hitting the hot key.
