Ok, I can't figure this one out. Two issues for the price of one... HELP PLZ!

Ok, I made a close copy of the house in the picture below.

I think Zento is who originally designed it. I made several changes though. What I'm having problems with is...

A: I can't get the flowers into some of the areas along the stairs to save my life! I tried from outside of the house and every tile near them to no avail.

B: What are the white things under the lanterns? I don't think they are Gozas because I tried to put one on one of the pillars and received the, "you cannot build that there" message.

I would deeply appreciate any help any of you folks can offer in this!

Did you place and raise Goza Mats where you want the flowers to go? If not, try placing one, raise it a little above the appropriate level, then place the flowers. You can then lower the goza and chop it to get it out of the way and lower the flower to the correct height.

I didn't put gozas where the flowers go but I'll try that. I just noticed that you said goza mat, is that different from just a square goza? Thank you both again for the help!

Hey neato, thats one of mine. Wow, I used a lot of lanterns. I'd probably do the plain goza mats for the stairs nowadays (they are the last option under the "misc" menu), they are basically a square goza mat but without the outline so when you make an area up of them there are no lines. Probably to get the flowers in weird places I would have stuck a square goza mat and raised it. For the lower ones on the east side you'd have to leave the house and drop the flower where you want it, then go back in and lock it down.

Also, if flowers are sufficiently raised above short walls (5 or 6 times raised) then when you customize they will not be kicked to the moving crate - so you can remove all the short walls, place the flowers and raise them, then replace the short walls. Unfortunately all the gozas will go into the crate.

Man, I bet those stairs could be really nice looking with the plain gozas instead of the bordered ones. Post pics when you're done finished, I'd like to see how it turns out.

Hi Sarsmi! So that's one of yours, eh? You are INCREDIBLY talented at this stuff! I saw that design and had to have it. I didn't do the hip roof though, I lack the patience for those so I put a flat roof with a gargish fountain on it. I'm still decorating and placing things. Thank you for the info about the borderless gozas. I'm going to go change mine now because I don't really care for the lines in them.

The one nagging question that I have is, where did you get the gigantic statue? I put a teleporter tile on my little tower there and made a 1 tile room under it on the first floor. I was going to just put flowers or something up there. Thanks!

P.S. Once I get it decorated, I'll post pictures. For those that want to see it, it's on Atlantic in the private desert area in the middle of the mountains in Malas.

I believe I got that statue from a heritage token. It was the only nice big 2x2 tile area thing I could think of to stick there, but flowers would work great I'm sure. You could also do a 1x1 statue above (or character statue), you'd just want to place a goza mat on the southeast corner and raise it till it's centered, then place the statue on that so it looks right. Could still do flowers underneath as well.

Thanks for the response Sarsmi. I've taken down the tower in the opening there. I'm trying new/different things but the overall design will remain the same. I'll post pictures once I get it where I want it to be. Thanks again for the stunning design and the help!

I have a question for Sarsmi - I was playing around on the test center and wanted to make steps like that for a house I am making. The very last set of steps on the east side... what did you use on the side of the stairs facing the outside of the house? They look like walls, but normal walls are too tall and the half walls are too short.

It does make sense. =)

I used east facing stairs actually, the top most stair bit is chopped off. Very easy to do, just place your floor tiles diagonally to the steps where the outside wall is so they make a line next to the empty space where the goza mats go, then place your east facing stairs, then delete the floor tiles and viola (I think that is my favorite word, sorry), you have a perfectly heighted wall made of stairs.

It will end up like this, where the X's are the broken up stair parts you are keeping and the O's are the empty spaces where the gozas mats go. The east facing stairs you use are Y's:

OYYYY
OYYYY
XXXX

etc

Those last Y's on the right side are the ones that get chopped off. You will end up with stairs still existing under where the goza mats go, so they won't end up being seen anyways. To place your goza mats on these stairs double click the goza mats then target yourself and they'll drop to your feet.

It's nice to see the revisions, while keeping the original gigantic stairway as is (love those big old stairways). It was one of my favorite houses to figure out, I'm glad it's living on somewhere. =)
