I admit it!

I avoid Fel like the plague it is.

Honestly, I also freely admit... I have a hard time passing up a good deal on a shard hardly populated... so a stripped down stealther will do the trick.

The location of this (not being Atlantic) is clearly Fel… Yew, right above the public stables. You can see them in the little map.

Now, its a very creative designed house, even if it doesnt look like much. Like, the second level is blended with the first so you cant tell what it looks like until you try to enter. Then an odd stairway on level 1... going up... out of the house back to the main level?

As you go in to the stairs... you teleport in to a basement? Yeah, what?!

Again, you can see the map. Everything is locked down as if inside a house... but this is BLACKNESS, as if under ground. You cant reach the center and upon trying? This happened...

Some aspects I can totally tell what they are... the overall double basement thing? I'm at a loss.

My guess is this is some old EM/Seer place where they used to hold duels in a more controlled space.

Also check that pic that looks like it might one of those holes that teleports to that spider (Mel?), its the same graphic. Its on the first floor near the front steps and in front of the grave stone to the right side. Also check the bulletin board out front that might explain the whole story.

I can check the house name/owner next time around. It does stress me going in to the void... such as it is.

This is Izumo shard. Many houses sit on this same spot, all over the game... just like my town is normally a castle on every shard I've seen. (I'm not switching). (Its also a clearing.)

I did have a thought it was game staff... cheating... as I'm sure they would do, but why so visibly? What about Green Acers? Everything is locked down, not fixed down like they can do.

Not that staff wouldnt have vendors? It has poorly stocked vendors. I first found it last month, but didnt know about the basement. Then last week, where discovered the teleporter. I had asked a friend to check it out... but I got tired of waiting for him, so I shared it with everyone here.

I would have also expected the house to be a bit more tricked out décor wise, if this was a real show-place. Many houses on these Japanese shards are just insane beautiful. You get the common "Borg Cubes" on both the Japanese and the US shards just the same... but some are downright amazingly beautiful.

The really funny thing... after the house decay lock-out, after 9-11... when house prices were shooting in to orbit, I was strongly pushing basements as a way to cope with the storage problem. First thing through my mind was that... but my idea was laughed at like it could never possibly happen. I guess it could. hehe

I'll try and get that sign info a bit later... but yeah, anyone interested should check it out themselves.

There is no graphics trickery... as I will do that to fit a whole house in 1 picture, sometimes. There is no second house.

The vet reward teleporters can be used inside a house just the same as house to house. Like, an event passage to get people up 2-3 levels in 1 hop.

Otherwise, gang... no disrespect... and I sure dont understand how/why staff does what they do sometimes.... it just seams a little lacking in "staff powers" to be staff. Granted, I would LOVE a real staff member to comment on this house now. Everyone is bringing up some good questions. I thought it was "older" at first until I saw the lighthouse. I didnt even see that level until the picture mission. I figure I'd walk on every single square I could walk, that time. There doesnt even appear to be much in the way of EM drops or specials along that line. As I did say before... you really dont see a lot on the outside to think anything special would be on the inside. Ya know?

Plus… as a rule, I dont stealth around other people's houses. Goodness knows I busted my fair share of thieves back in the day! If I had seen a sign of life, I would have removed myself from the house and come back another day.

A great number of beautiful houses on these shards are private. Such a shame.

Japanese shards run on a different rule set. Ems and seers had and have way more power

there is another house on one of the HK shards that is very similar, has a basement and even a room up in the clouds.

same deal, seer bless house grandfathered to a person.
there are or use to be houses littered all over that had neat little things put in them by the Seers.
there was or still is a place on Sonoma that has a trigger word that takes you into Fel Magincia to where the bar use to be and back again - if you know the trigger words.
then there is the Oasis Castle on Sonoma, same deal, Seer blessed, has a lot of graphics and such you cant get in game. also, those houses don't count against your house limit, so you can own them and a normal house too.

thing about the ones on the HK shards, their Seers/Dev's just did a better job on theirs then ours could ever dream of.

I dont know if you can say they did a better job vs. had more freedom to do it. hehe. In a way, you could say the shards were a big canvas of possibilities... that never got painted until the last few years. As is, I still cant understand why every town bank doesnt have 1 rubbish bin. They do on the Japanese shards! (from what I can tell.)

I also cant agree this is a grandfathered situation... at least from looking at it. Far too much is new. Goodness knows the museums I used to find as a newbie... all gone now. So many wonderful old rares gone forever.

House has the Y-Axis extended to full parameters, beyond normal player range (underground). Home teleporters are used to access lower floors. Floors appear to be goza mats below ground level & normal house customization tiles above. It appears the normal house customization stuff doesn't work underground (or the designer just decided not to use them). The black spot near front steps is raised cotton & wool used to hide a teleport tile.



Players can't do this & EM's on US shards can't do this either. My guess is the Asian Shard Devs or possibly Mesanna herself did this for the player. Its pretty darn neat & leaves me with one question... Who do I gotta blow to get underground flooring? I'll have my people meet your people asap. VIP party at the Fortune's Fire Resort and Casino w/ paid "entertainers" ? Done and done...

Basements have been on my wish list and I expressed an interest at one of the live meetings the UO team had in Virginia. I would buy an expansion for that if they offered it.

Below ground the outside of buildings is black, ie: dungeons etc, so this has floors below the main floor. The average player cannot make this on a production shard.

Very cool design though.

An idea for the devs - when I see a cool design let me click the house sign and select "copy design", then let me set my own plot to this design and perhaps have the sign credit the original design's owner. I can't tell you how many times I see a nice idoc go down where the design is lost forever and I wish I could have backed it up to put over the new plot.

If you want to encourage awesome designs you have to give credit. Even if you modify the design and give it your own touch it's nice to credit where the base design came from. We have entire websites dedicated to house design, it would be nice to see their names on their works.

Anyway - curiosity got me about that bottom floor message board. The house owner name is Rezin and this is the only message he posted on that board. If someone could translate?

Lots of cool little deco touches too, like the pilot's wheel over the dartboard to give the inner portion a white raised appearance. That vendor location too, you'll have to go check it out on your own. spider-ma indeed!
