Odd things are happening!

Two really weird things have happened to me today.

1. Took a mage home, stoned off inscription, and went to buy resist. Inscription is gone, locked at 0, resist is turned up to gain, skill total is only 620 of the 720 I'm allowed. The problem? I bought resist from the mage in Brit, he wanted 259 gps to teach me all he knew. Paid him, didnt get the message you always see about the skill increasing. Looked at the skill list, it still showed 0. Played with gazers for a little bit to see what happened, nothing. Logged out, shut down, back in, looked at list, says 0. Went back to mage to buy again, he says I am as smart as he is
Any Ideas Anyone?


2. Ilshenar Valor, the spawn, was running spiders. One of the surrounding dragons went by me like he was on a mission from God. He turned around , came back to me (I'm thinkin I'm about to be toast) and took up a position behind me like a pet. He followed me around for several minutes, just a normal follower, stopped when I did, walked when I did, flew after me when I ran...He finally acted like a real dragon after what seemed like a long time, but only when one of the evs that had to target targetted him. *shrugs*

And then today, at Humility, the same thing happened with an ophidian enforcer. Never had one of them follow me around like a pet before LOL.
Acted just like the dragon did. Anyone else had this happen to em?

I've had #2 happen to me a lot. It usually starts when something targets me and I then recall away, only to come back moments later... The mob runs to me as if its a paragon on crack, then proceeds to follow me like a lost puppy starving for affection. Eventually it will attack, but that could be upwards of 10 mins later.

I know people who have wisps do this to them for no apparent reason too...

I chalk it up to ancient buggy AI code that's very light on the 'I' part

I don't know anything about the first one, but something similar to the second one happens to my t-hunter all the time, but only with Wisps. She doesn't attack them or anything, and has positive karma, so they don't attack her, but they kinda like to just start following her around for no apparent reason.

I really don't mind it either... It's like having little lanterns following me around when my nightsight messes up

the 2nd happens to me on my thief if i get targeted and recall out then come back in stealth the mob will follow me sometimes will I'm invised kinda funny to have the slayer following you around not attacking ha.

Maybe a new AI for all them critters. They are smart enough to try and lure you into a false sense of security before they give ya the monochrome screen

#2 is easy to test

Go to near a server line, wait until any mob targets you then cross the server line. The mob will cross the server line too and follows you like Martyna says, a paragon in crack. There you have a new (and temp) pet that will want to play with you in a few mins
Recall thingy has the same behavior because most probably you will recall to a different subserver.

If you cross a server line when a monster was targeting you, then come back into the server the monsters that were targeting you will lock on to you and ZOOM to your position and then shadow you until they flag on you again, then they go back to normal.

Its really annoying. When I did miasma a lot I used to lure all the minotaurs away and I would always end up like like 4 of them stuck to me like glue, so i just precast invis and stood there waiting for them to target me before going about my business.

For me, it can happen with no server lines involved. I remember one time I had three Wisps start following me for over an hour in the Abyss while I worked the Secret Garden spawn. I'd get like, halfway through the level with them and the Dark Wisps, then one would just start following me around. Happened everytime

Wow! I had never had 2 happen to me before, or never noticed it anyway. Thanks for all the response, had no idea it was this common.

No ideas on 1 tho? anyone?

Uriah, this happens every once in a while to someone new to Siege who hasn't trained resist in a while. Try looking at your real skill to confirm it isn't actually going up. Also, I think one of the magery spells (maybe Protection?) might drop your resist skill if it is in effect. Don't have time to look it up for you at the moment, but I'm guessing that might be what's going on.

On Item #1, Do you have Protection casted on yourself. It will drop your skill 34 points and so Resist would show 0 in your skill list. Just cast Protection again to remove it.

On Item #2, This happens to me all of the time when I'm stealthing, especially if it is a Paragon.

#1 - Yup, protection. Skill goes negative so when you gain - it shows no gain since you are still negative.

#2 - Yup, happens all the time. Seems to be when something is aggroed on you when you recall out. When you come back it follows you at 2x speed and acts like a pet. Its another AI bug that has been around a year or more with no fix. IT happens all the time when I'm running champ spawns. Its annoying.

I had GM Resist on a soulstone and moved it over to one of my characters awhile back. As soon as I moved it over, I got the message that "Your Resisting Spells is now 66". After my heart rate came back to normal, I realalized that the character had Protection casted at some time in her life.
