In response to the growing activity and population of Oceania, I thought it was high time we began player run events again!
Minax factions (More than likely meaning myself ><) Will be hosting a series of events aimed at bringing life back to the community in all areas.
The first event proposed is a Market Day style event, details bellow.
What:The Market Day event is a set few hours, previously designated and advertised where community members come together to trade, barter haggle and chat in person.
The proposed system is in a designated House, every player wishing will be given a free vendor (or more if they wish) in which they can put anything they wish to sell.
Also, the owners of the vendors are encouraged to be present for the duration of the event, where they can advertise their goods as well as haggle with and entertain their customers.
Where:So far, the plan is for me to build an 18x18 as close to Luna as possible (for easy access), which will allow for a large number of vendors.
When:Completely undecided! Due to the nature of my holidays as they are, I wont have a set date until this coming Monday/Tuesday. Current idea is for Thursday 15th April at Starting at 6.30 and going until late.
Now here's the big one; Why? Why not just put up a vendor a luna?!
Well here's how I see it:
-A good business in Luna requires regular stocking, established name and advertising, this event is aimed at those people that really want to dig deep into their storage castles and pull out that stuff they really don't need anymore; items that you otherwise wouldn't actively seek out to sell for profit or to make a business of.
-It's a whole lot more personal. With the presence of shopkeeper/owner, temporary nature and distance from the gold-hyped Luna Square we get to enter a whole new world of trade, where people can speak and deal with owners in person; hopefully leading to trades, bartering and even haggling!
-A good opportunity to form a wish list! I recommend emptying out your ingame profile and filling it up with a list of items or services that you really want! With a bit of luck, and perhaps some spamming you might have people with exactly what you're looking for! And best of, it's not on a vendor! Trade, barter, lay-by/loan or perhaps ask for it to be put aside for a later date!
-Promote your business or hobby in a new way that vendors just don't allow! Perhaps you fancy yourself a decorator, a florist or a wholesaler? Set up a vendor selling books with your details or Marked Runes to your workshop!
- There could just well be additional services available at the event! Not interested trading? Come along and bring a pair of dice, you never know what people are willing to gamble!
- Live auctions! Can't be bothered to set up a vendor? Only have a few items? Want to make sure you make a sale? Whether by early submission or just by admitting your item/s on the night, there will be live auctions throughout the event.
But most of all, it's all FREE!
It's all in the works so any and all suggestions are more than welcome. Hopefully we really kick start a good thing here with regular player run events.
P.S, The Oceanian EMs will be running an event right after this. (They don't know this yet though...
