there was a group of 8 of us in ilshnar that just done him and we all got the bane plus and negative ophidian, what bothers me more is my character has remained completely neutral as he is not choosing sides but this just forced his neutrality in one direction to not get back to complete neutralityI've killed Oaks since the scenario began, and have not gained or lost loyalty on any side.
Bug?
UO is legendary for many things, one of them is one-off bugs/glitches that appear for no obvious reason and are never replicated.

Any way you can check your Meer loyalty too?there was a group of 8 of us in ilshnar that just done him and we all got the bane plus and negative ophidian, what bothers me more is my character has remained completely neutral as he is not choosing sides but this just forced his neutrality in one direction to not get back to complete neutrality
bane loyalty +2(neutral) meer -4 (enemy)Any way you can check your Meer loyalty too?

Well crap.bane loyalty +2(neutral) meer -4 (enemy)
It might be an unintentional bug, but it makes perfect sense to me. My herders have led Oak's army of Ki Rin and Unicorns against the Bane in an effort to drive them from this part of Ilshenar. The battles were hard fought. If you slay Oaks, it would seem to me you are aren't a friend of the virtuous creatures who inhabit the region. Thus you gain Bane Loyalty and lose loyalty to the allied races.Well crap.
Fictionally it's totally inexplicable.
I would hazard a guess that they based a monster on Oaks that will be used in the climactic events of the event cycle and screwed up when they turned points on?
But that of course is just a guess.
It must be fairly recent as I have fought Oaks in Ilshenar (on a character with Bane loyalty but not too much), and did not gain from it.
I suppose I might've just not noticed.

I'm sure its a bug (because they never make cool/simple choices like this) but man it would be fantastic if they were actually giving some personality to the champs. So many big evils have been around with zero back story, and zero involvement in world events. I would love it if they were actually involved in stuff.i just killed lord oaks and on a totally neutral character i lost loyalty to the ophidians and gained on bane for killing lord oaks
I just realized the original poster's subject line is incorrect.....If he gained Bane Chosen loyalty for killing Oaks, it means that Oaks is against the Chosen and they want him harmed. It might be an unintentional bug, but it makes perfect sense to me. Maybe it would be.Wouldn't it be cool that if instead of this being a bug, that at the final battle of magincia all champs and peerless choose sides and fought there too?
Oh wait, the subject line is correct.I just realized the original poster's subject line is incorrect.....If he gained Bane Chosen loyalty for killing Oaks, it means that Oaks is against the Chosen and they want him harmed.
Which, if intended, would make RP sense for sure; I still maintain, though, that if they'd intended it they should have at least dropped a hint.

*sigh*Hello everyone,

Is there much chance at all that you'll provide us with a way to fix the problem on characters that we were trying to keep neutral--a solution that doesn't put us deeper in the hole on one side or the other? Or are we just screwed and will have to live with characters being enemies to the Meers over, in my character's case, ONE STINKING POINT?Hello everyone,
This is a bug and it will be fixed.

I want to add that there is absolutely no way of returning to 0 loyalty towards both sides by killing creatures with the current system of "1x loyalty gain for one side = 3x loyalty lost for other side" (which was intended that way, but its not good for players who accidentally gained/lost loyalty points). Is there much chance at all that you'll provide us with a way to fix the problem on characters that we were trying to keep neutral--a solution that doesn't put us deeper in the hole on one side or the other?
