Well, it's not totally clean, but you'll get an awful lot of pvp use out of it before it breaks...

Hmm, ok. If I then extrapolate from there, it probably has more value as relic fragments (which have effectively 0 value), or smelted into ingots, than it has as a weapon?

Rule of thump if it's can not be repaired caused or brittle, it's pretty much junk or used for training which in turn is a throw away item.
