I have just tried to reactivate my main old account just in time to play SA and discovered it to be no longer linked to my email address. I checked my old guilds on my 2nd account and none of my original characters are in their guilds so I am assuming a hacking has occurred. The account has been deactivated for about 18months-2 years so who knows when it would have happened.

Is there anything that is being done about these hackings these days or is my return going to last 1 or 2 days??

I do not understand why people are thinking that EA could do anything to prevent hacking. If your account was hacked, it is alone the user's responsibility. If you follow the rules described here

your account will be save from hacking. Those are basic internet rules.

Well if you would read what I wrote that it had been deactivated for 2 years......

I was more wondering if they do anything about getting the account back than anything.

Did you try contacting customer support ?

If you have stored your original Ultima Online CD jewel case with your original registration code which was used back then to activate your account(s) the very first time that code should get the account back since you did not transfer it using the official transfer program.

That I know of, only the official account transfer program permanently transfers an account to someone else.

Look for that code and call customer support and give it a try.

Good luck.

UO has no way of returning you characters or goods.

If you were playing world opf warcraft, a phone call and an email would get your account back to your hands and restored to how you left it in a matter of a week.

UO has a lot of catching up to do.

Never had an original code, just downloaded and played from day 1.
I could try contact cust support but the fact that I only have a mobile phone to call from and I am in Australia..... may put a stop to that.

Some things to consider:

If you have your disk activation keys you can get your account password changed by contacting customer service but right now that will be a nightmare with the release of SA happening.

Edit: came in too late, however you should have received and email when you purchased the game with a confirmation number and account registration numbers. Did you print that out?

I started playing in 04 so no chance even if I did print that out would I have kept it till today.

I remember the no returning goods thing, I just want to see if my characters are still there.
I don't care if they took all the items but if the chars are not there then I will leave.

I lived in Australia (hub is the Aussie) before and I do know you can buy a phone card to call the states (or anywhere worldwide really) from a land line as mobile phone rates there are atrocious.

Anyway, when you call customer service and explain the situation, they will ask you to answer a few security questions, one of which, I believe, is the last few numbers of the credit card that was on file for the account. At least that's one of the questions they asked me when I forgot the password of one of my older accounts that I wanted to reactivate. It took less time than I anticipated and before too long, I was able to reclaim my old account.

The ticket system will take a little longer, but it does work also. Although, being that SA is being released today, chances of talking to a customer service rep is dicey at best.

Good luck!
