noob house questions

I'm a returning player who has never used a house before and have so many questions. if you secure a chest in your home can anyone open it? how do i use storage of a house? whats the difference between locking down and securing an item? any help is greatly appreciated.

That is what the Secure feature is for.

Locking down an item means it's *stuck* and cannot be picked up nor can anything be removed from it.

Saying *I wish to secure this* lets you set access.

if you put an item in a secured chest, no one else can access the chest so theres no reason to lock an item down inside the secured chest? right?

If you want to display items in a chest secure it
You have to release the items if you want to use them

You mean lock it down.

Locking down a container and setting access to anyone will allow anyone to open and look inside of the container but not remove anything from it.
