No difference whatsoever between 35 and 40SSI?

Ok,
I have been planing this suit for a while and wanted to go 55 SSI with macing first (to swing a hammer pick at max with 180 Stamina).

Since I cannot use faction gear I found out rather soon, that there is no good way of doing it, unless I would sacrifice too many other things (especially since I am going 100 DI on the suit - want to use the whetstones for some nice 5 mod weapons).

So the new idea was to go longswords.

You need 35 SSI and 180 Dex to swing at cap.
Since I was lucky enough to have tinker legs drop for me last week I thought I see if I can use them in the suit, beacuse I thought 40 SSI (I mean 30 from weap + 10 from tinker legs) would give me a bit of room to still swing at cap when I get hit and drop a little stamina.

But when I played around with different SSI calculators I found that there seems to be absolutely no difference between 35 and 40 SSI.
I could not come up with ANY Stamina value where the difference between 35 and 40 SSI would make a difference in actual swing speed.
(meaning if Stamina drops to 179 I will swing at 1,5 with 35 SSI AND with 40 SSI alike.

So if the 5 extra SSI don´t do anything for me I would be better of to use imbued heartwood legs instead of the tinker legs and a SSI ring to get to 35 SSI.
(MUCH easier to balance out other things without the tinker legs - after looking at them in the build I don´t really think they are such a great item, unless you need them for a higher SSI build).

Does someone know if I am making a thinking mistake here?
Is there any benefit from the extra SSI?
Maybe I don´t really understand how SSI works.

Comments would be appreciated!

Thank you!

You should target your SSI on the lowest stamina you will have. In the case you are pointing out for the longsword if your stamina goes down to 90 then the 40 SSI makes a difference from 35 SSI. The hammer pick case there is a difference at 120 stamina.

There are now rings and bracelets dropping from shame loot with SSI 10 and I am frantically killing to get a bracelet. Don't get discouraged about the difficulty getting to 55 SSI just keep trying and adjust your suit when you get there. I have 30 SSI on my archer suit and find being able to add more properties to the weapon with the reduction in weapon to 25 SSI to be a great benefit. There are ways to get you to 55 SSI.

Thank you very much for your answer.
I have checked and yes, you are right. It does make a difference in lower regions, so it is not wasted.

About the 55 SSI:
I know it is possible to get there and I am actually running 60SSI on my archer (which is rather easy using invasion weapons - I was lucky enough back then to get a lot of 45 and 50 SSI bows).
I also have an imbued Daymios Helm and the Jade armband but to be honest: both items really destroy a suit imo.

So I was also farming shame for the 10SSI rings and braces but since they seem to be tied to other properties (that are not much use for the temp), I gave up on finding a clean usable one. I did find some usable 5SSI clean ones - but nothing that is better than any of the SSI rings I have. Granted there is braces now, but still i don´t see a good way yet.

I have yet to see a brace or ring with 10 SSI from shame that is not "named" and thus tied to properties that are usually not needed or wanted.

Well, I´ll keep at it...

Thx, again!

We discuss using a Hammer Pick with 55 SSI in Lynk's "My Newest Sampire" thread. It is now doable with Shame loot, but I still think you will see only a minor increase in damage and will loose some key mod slots on your ring and bracelet. That said, I would try running:

30 hammer pick
5 Augmentation Cloak
10 Animated Tinker Legs
5 Ring or Brace from Shame

Or, if you are lucky with Shame drops, try just 10 SSI on the Ring/Brace and replace the Augmentation for a Quiver of Infinity.

If you are planning on using this build on a non-parry bushido char don't forget about the SSI shields. I found a sweet one that I use on my samp and now run 50 SSI(I did manage to fit in the legs with no loss on my suit) when I'm killing the shame stuff.

If I'm going to use a shield what would be better to have - parry or bushido?
(120 parry vs 120 bushido... or 120 parry + 60 bushido vs 120 bushido + 60 parry)

I run parry on my samp but when I'm killing the shame stuff like unbound vortex and such I through the shield on, if I'm doing a champ spawn I'd leave the shield off.

My samp temp is as follows:
120 Bushido
120 Swords
120 Tactics
100 Necro
110 Resist
75 Chiv
75 Parry

I've not bothered to try the other variations of the template as I find this set up suits me well. I invested a lot of time and money in my suit to maximize every stat and to include 50 EP and the tinker legs etc.

I am also running 75 parry (50EP/tinker legs as well - 100 DI on suit), but funny enough: when I take my time against unbound EVs I am faster without the SSI (and other mods) shield than with it. I think it is because I actually get hit more often with the shield because of the parry penalty. And getting hit means that actual swing speed drops to 1,5 until the next stam leech.

My best time against unbound EVs is 2 minutes 32 seconds, but I always finish under three minutes (I can tell because the potions effect is still up).

I am actually faster than lynk in his video although I run a similar build without faction arties and have only 84 mana. First I could not understand why I it takes me less time than him, but I think it is the 100 DI on suit, which lets me make weaps like: slayer/SSI/mana leech/stamina leech and eithe HLA/even more HLD or hit spell. With HLA, I get hit even less and thus Swing Speed stays up and I think thats why I am faster in the end.
Not that the time really matters.

Well, I usually try the following atm: switch out quiver of infinity for rangers cloak and put on 10 SSI shield.
I lose 5 DCI but get to 55 SSI that way. So even if stam/dex drop through being hit or cursed, I stay at max speed mostly.
But against Neira for example I will try and stone anatomy for resist.
Have not tried yet though. We´ll see...

Oh, and I use apples!
