has anyone mined niter yet? do need a prospectors tool? does the spot on rocks look different? do you just mine ore and niter pops up like gems?

No, I have not mined it myself as it needs the HS booster,
You can only get it from boat mining or dungeon mining and is said to pup up looking like a white stone you an get salpter from.

Devs also stated that a luck suit would help.
Write a bug report though if you think it is hard to get, as I think the developers have no real idea how 'fun' mining is.

15 minutes of mining, and I got this... yielded 208 saltpeter. The deposit kept getting smaller, so my macro to mine last target only worked once then had to re-target... lots of clicking to get all the saltpeter mined.
And since all the alchemists are gone now, prepare for a new saltpeter crisis.

I missed that... why are the dock Alchemists gone? I thought they were going to continue selling saltpeter as a commodity item.

Put on a high luck suit (mine is 2225 with luck statue) and you hit the deposits ever 10 minutes or so. At least I have so far. Gives us miners another reason to get into the caves.

I didn't have a lot of time to mine last night, but in three deposits I got 208, 170 and 266 total saltpeter from each deposit.
While mining, a block of Niter Deposit may appear next to where you are mining. When you mine the niter deposit, you will get zero, 1, 2, 3 or 4 saltpeter from each mining attempt until the deposit runs out. It starts out as a "Gigantic Niter Deposit," then goes to "Massive," "Huge," "Large," "Medium" then "Small" deposit. (I think the Medium is in there). The deposit disappears quickly once it gets to the "Small" stage. This seems a nice way to stop script mining of the deposit, but it sure takes a lot of clicking.
