Ninjitsu too hard?

So I've been working a ninja for most of this year, extremely slowly I might add. Anyway, I'm up to about 102.2 which you would think should be sufficient to cast any spell in the book with relative ease. Well I have been trying to polymorph into a ki-rin but it takes almost 6 casts before I actually get it. Is this supposed to be virtually useless untill 120 Ninjitsu?

I thought ninjas were supposed to be perfect at their craft, not lucky to get a spell off--is this right? Now I have to say it is getting kind of fun to play these guys, but gosh it took a freaking long time to train, and it seems I still have a long time to go before I even get to use the good spells even slightly proficiently.

Anyway that's all I got to say.

I too am training one, and they are hard to figure out. Like all skills, they suck until higher levels, so we'll see. It's slow going for now.

It gets really hard when you think you've eaten a powerscroll but haven't.

( training a "just so I'll have one" ninja for the past year, hadn't gotten my daily gain in over a weekand was pulling my hair out trying to think of why or whether I was losing my memory until I clued in to the fact that I had stopped on a nice round number and finally double-checked my cap )

yes after gm ninjitsu is a pain to train, all you can do is death strike to gain and its sooo slow. i too hate that kirin/unicorn is available at gm but takes so many tries to be successful. my ninja is at 105 with a 120 cap and still takes 5 tries or so to get a kirin form off. im at the point i just do my ggs gain and stockpile any SoTs for ninja that i can.

See, I'm still of the opinion that you should be able to GGS off of animal form. I mean, if you can gain smithy off of a REPAIR, how does it not make sense to be able to skill gain off of the tougher animal forms? It requires a skill check, it should count.

I agree with you with gaining off the animal form, it should work because it is using the skill, but it doesn't. I just think there is a lot wrong with Ninjitsu, comparatively Bushido is far easier to use and is way more fluid. I think Ninjitsu needs a hard look taken on it.
